This thread is amazing.

Adolf Hitler has a Williams Number of 3, via Spencer, which I suppose might make for some interesting connections. Nothing except BJ Blazkovicz immediately springs to mind though.

Oh, also God appears in SVC Chaos with Ryu.

edit: oh er just noticed Hitler was already on the list.

edit again: And hey, what about Spider-Man and Batman appearing in The Super Shinobi? That would put Batman at W3 and by extension make for shorter connection for many DC characters.

-Didn't Aero the Acro-Bat appear ever so briefly as part of the Sunsoft logo in some other game(s)? Granted I'm not sure how much that would help things... (or maybe it was just his own games, what do I know)

-Linn Kurosawa appears in Ken's stage in SFA2 creating a link to anyone Alien or Predator related (though I'm not exactly sure how much worth that is)

-Satan is currently listed as W6, but what about Nina (Tekken) -> Ryu (SF) -> Arthur (GnG) -> Satan?

Speaking of Lili being in a crossover something-or-other, I do believe she made an appearance in a Queen's Blade game, along with Ivy (SoulCalibur), Mai (KOF), Iroha (Samurai Shodown) and possibly some other guest characters.

Hey, Earthworm Jim is a great catch, actually. He was in the N64 versions of ClayFighter, along with... Boogerman, but more importantly, Santa Claus(!), and, er, the Statue of Liberty. That ought to make for some interesting connections.

Does the Moai head count as a character? If so, does Peacock dropping Moai heads indicate a link between Skullgirls and Gradius? Is there a distinction to be made between non-generic and generic Moai heads based on copyright?

By the way, was there ever a consensus reached on the whole Yoshimitsu thing?

edit: wow, Queen's Gate Spiral Chaos actually has a whole slew of guest characters.
Apart from the ones I mentioned, plus a couple of anime tie-ins, there's
Cham Cham and Mina, also from Samurai Shodown
Dizzy (Guilty Gear)
Noel (BlazBlue)
Wonder Momo

Kind of interesting to see this of all games connecting fighting game universes of Namco, SNK and Arc System Works. Not sure if Wonder Momo's inclusion means much though, since she's already at W3 due to Namco X Capcom.

Well, it's relevant since Yoshimitsu, unlike Heihachi, is in Soul Caliburs 1, 3, 4 and 5. If Tekken Yoshimitsu and SoulCalibur Yoshimitsu count as the same character, that would put characters like Darth Vader, Link and Ezio one step closer to Nina. (How does Heihachi/Link/Spawn count anyway? They're all in SC2, but they're never in the same game) For the record I don't really see why they shouldn't count as the same; for all intents and purposes they are the same character. If it was somehow revealed in Tekken 7 that Yoshimitsu is actually 600 years old, would anyone really bat an eyelash? (That's assuming Tekken and SC share a universe anyway - hypothetically it could probably be argued that they are the same particular person, born in the 1500s in the SC universe, but born in the 1900s in the Tekken universe. Or he's an alien skeleton beetle robot. Whatever)

Besides, I kind of feel like that sort of distinction opens up the door for further splitting of hairs that I'm not sure is very meaningful. Should the older and younger Sub-Zero count as different characters? (the former was in MK1 and his own spinoff prequel, the latter in every other game, technically I guess both appear in UMK3, MKT and MK9) King/King II as well as every different model of Jack in the Tekken games? What about legacy superhero characters like The Flash, Robin or Green Lantern? I suppose there will always be room for different application of this "rule" depending on the case, but for the most part I'm inclined to count all versions of the same character as the same character, provided they're essentially interchangeable. I guess we're counting fat middle-age Mega Man with a handgun as the same Mega Man from the original NES series but not the same as X or .EXE - this makes sense to me since while they are all different "versions" of the same character they have plenty of distinct differences, and also appear along different points in the same timeline. On the other hand, I see no reason to distinguish between, say, 616/Ultimate/movie versions of Spider-Man, since generally speaking you could say a game appearance is based on either one of them and it really wouldn't make any difference either way. Personally, I'm inclined to put Yoshimitsu in the latter category.

Re: Snatcher:

No, I don't think someone dressing up as a character should count as that character appearing. I would definitely count Metal Gear Mk.II as a link between Solid Snake and Gillian Seed, though.

SSX characters are also in NBA Jam: On Fire Edition.

I'm not sure if the Lost Planet mech in TvC is in LP2, but Frank West and Wesker are, so there's a tie through MvC3 either way.

Added a few games to that spreadsheet. Hope I didn't do it wrong or break anything.

Oh and Scorpion being in Injustice might I guess affect the DC characters who weren't in MKDC; Harley Quinn, Hawkgirl, Raven, Killer Frost, Black Adam, Bane, Solomon Grundy, Green Arrow, Batgirl, Aquaman, Cyborg, Nightwing, Ares, Sinestro, Lobo.
