I would almost pick Hugo just for the chance that Poison might appear with him. |

that's weird, the packs of three are only £4.99 here but the whole thing is £19.99, so buying the entire game is actually 3p more expensive. _________________

Adam Foster, creator of the Minerva mod for HL2, has been hired by Valve, and will be working on HL2 Episode 3:
| Quote: |
...I'll be starting at a certain Valve Corporation at the beginning of October.
What does this mean for MINERVA? Right now, I don't know - I'll initially be working on Valve's own Episode Three, but after that, who knows? I seriously suspect this isn't the end for this particular chain of experiments in designing single-player Half-Life 2 maps, all conducted for fun in my spare time.
Like any of my projects, it started off small, but rapidly grew far, far, bigger. It's not finished yet, but this time I actually released something. 'Episodic' worked.
And, I accidentally acquired a job in the process. Oops?
To everyone, thanks. |

As I've said elsewhere, Valve is the only developer that gets it. Other individual developers get it, but Valve is the only place where, as a team, as a whole, they get it. _________________ Let's Play, starring me. |

yeah, that list of potential "new characters" for street fighter 4 is kinda revolting :-/
i mean, they're just more street fighter ii characters!
why hugo and ibuki of all the street fighter iii characters? because one's a wrestler and one's a female ninja? seriously?
they said that they wanted to stay "safe" with the game because they didn't want to disappoint the people who were disappointed by street fighter iii.
so they just put every SFII character in there.
i went and played this at the arcade in kichijoji (the only one that has it until . . . oh, today, lol) last weekend, and it really was kinda depressing to see that twelve of the sixteen characters are SFII characters.
so, like: capcom acknowledged that SFIII had a "problem".
the "problem" was that "the characters were too weird".
further digging revealed that the characters were "too weird" because they "weren't exactly the same people as the street fighter ii characters."
if they would have just assessed what made the SFII characters affecting (easy-to-grasp stereotypes) and winged it from there, they could have created a whole bunch of new and different stereotype characters.
or: maybe now, at last, characters like sean and alex and makoto would appeal to the typical gamer's sensitivities. they were ahead of their time!
conclusion: it's really sad to see that the most they're willing to do at this point is give us a choice between t. hawk or fucking deejay.
if only someone would knock up a real nice powerpoint explaining that interest in the street fighter "franchise" started to wane around the time the "new challengers" were introduced. i mean, they're very boring people. look at them all.
second conclusion: that capcom's new characters include a 500-pound man doing drunken kung fu really isn't convincing me that they know their audience very well. isn't this precisely the kind of character that people felt "betrayed" by in street fighter iii? why bother including him at all?
(also, he looks fucking ridiculous in motion. kinda like him, either way.)
like, seriously -- why keep the bullfighter in, if you're going to have a mexican wrestler?
back with SFII, there was a bullfighter; they virtua fighter added a mexican wrestler a decade and three years later; then, two years later, tekken stole VF's mexican wrestler and dressed him up like a bullfighter; now sfiv has a mexican wrestler. no use having any shame about it! it was kind of your idea in the first place!
so yeah. i was hopeful for SFIV, though now that i've schooled bastards in the arcade for a solid week i've, uhh, started to get kinda depressed about it. i mean, how much longer am i supposed to be ryu? how much longer must i walk this lonely path of the warrior?
i wanna be makoto, at least :(
or i wanna be someone newwww
i keep trying to play as abel and every time i do, i lose, because i don't know him well enough :(
and i'm getting kind of sick of fighting guile :(
why is everyone playing as guile?
why does everyone playing suck so much? _________________

different play style it being a prequel and all. ibiki more fumbling than usual? hugo sloppier than before?
then again, i haven't touched the game! wouldn't know if sf2 ryu is still sf2 ryu or closer to sf 3 ryu. if there was a big difference, either way. couldn't tell you. _________________

This whole damn release pisses me off. First off, I want the damn game on a fucking disc. Second: if this game didn't sell well the first time and that's why it's not on a disc, well Sony you dumb fucks, less people are going to download a $40 game than buy a new $40 game in stores. Also, IGN proves again they can't do simple math and state that you actually save $20 over buying the packs individually, and save $5 off each episode.
And Guardian, that same news was posted 4 posts above your not even 24 hours previous. _________________

I have a feeling the game will eventually get some kind of disc-based release.
Call it a hunch. _________________

Well, not just the asian version but also (I believe) the european version,
(Which you could probably import if you really wanted it on a disc)
But when I say it's a hunch, what I mean is... it's a hunch. _________________

Yes, that was pointed out earlier. I honestly don't have the stamina to import games any more at this point in my life. If the game isn't 100% in English (menus) I'm at the point where it's really not worth me spending my time or money on. It pisses me off though and everyone else seems just willing to take it. _________________

Good good. If it's not quick my wife will find out and force me to buy the damn downloadable version, so chop-chop. _________________

I wrote up some interesting things about Siren:BC after playing the demo, most notably about the control scheme:
I also put up an awesome wallpaper, but I digress. Anyways, seriously, go back and replay the demo but go into FPS mode and don't leave it once you pick up the gun. It's brilliant.

did this get released in the UK or AUS territories, or is the Asian version in english menus? Because... I have the asian version I just never opened it! _________________

They're just being careful, near as I can see it. There are dudes that played Street Fighter 2 fifteen, or maybe even ten years ago, and they don't play Street Fighter anymore. They probably play Halo, or Madden, or nothing. So I'm pretty sure the design document for this game says STREET FIGHTER 2 ONLY LOOK MORE AWESOME and that's pretty much what we've got. I'll take it and see where they go from there |

... but come to think of it, why not really? Their programmers have better things to do then package patches for old games, and it's not like the crackers can sue them. |

Basically it makes them look like the "do what we say, not what we do" kind of people, which could turn into a PR disaster.
The usual publisher stance on warez patches is that they pretty much kill babies (to put it metaphorically) when you download them, and suddenly you discover Ubi's been making you kill babies behind your back. Except that if they make you do it, it's not baby-killing, so then people start to wonder if warez patches are really killing babies.
Also I suspect end-users can now be in position to sue them for covertly putting illegal software in their patches, and if this happens and the Ubi guys manage to successfully defend their use of it that'd open a somewhat dangerous loophole concerning the creation of said illegal software. |
