it strikes me that there ought to be some kind of legal provision similar to that used to take away neglected children, to give to a foster developer intellectual properties that are being abused by their parent company

Quoted for awesomeness. Also, just found a quick demo (jp) for the game so that it still seems like I'm contributing!

Hey guess what? There's totally worthwhile stuff on the US Virtual Console today. Two Genesis shooters that had never been released in the US!

1. Gleylancer - it's a hori, people say it's good, collectors always paid a lot of money for it. Has a Thunderforce sort of look, I don't know a whole lot about it though.

2. Super Fantasy Zone - fantastic 16-bit Fantasy Zone sequel. I'll pass on it because it's also included in Sega Ages vol 33: Fantasy Zone Complete Collection, which will be released in September for PS2 (Japan, of course). Everyone here should play it in some form though, really good game.

UFO Interactive are releasing MileStone Shooting Collection in the US as Ultimate Shooting Collection.

Do O3 even still exist?

It's good fun. You should definitely check it out if you're into horizontal scrollers. There's some good variety in the modes that you can select for your Options/Bits (I normally go with the Homing 1 style) and the game has a fair length to it.

Radio Allergy/Radirgy was done (one of the guys posting on shmups who was working with O3 actually obtained a working copy), but Nintendo gave them an ultra lame excuse (not enough self-space, IIRC) so it got canned (and this was after several months of NOA being dicks about Q&A).

Gley Lancer is painfully easy fare as horzies go unless you activate the secret Mania difficulty. It was one of the very first shmups with autofire! Great stuff with awesome TFIV-alike graphics though. I wonder if Nintendo bothered to translate the intro cutscene.

Best Buy is selling the collector's edition of Devil May Cry 4 for $50.

The regular version is still $60.

This is funny to me.

Sonic screenshots and info here. This game sounds kind of cool.

The sword talks!

Equippable items!

Dual wielding Knuckles!!!!!!

”the team behind Sonic and the Black Knight is keenly aware of the franchise’s past missteps, and their enthusiasm for doing right by the series is infections” lol right

Oh shit i'm excited for this game maybe.

But there is one huge downside.

"some of Sonic’s (SHITTY) friends will be playable" including Shadow

you're kidding right? all of these features sound like awful, tacked on surface innovations which will do nothing to fix the basic underlying design errors that have plagued the series for the past decade.

at this point that most froth-worthy "feature" they could announce is that they hired some actual competent programmers this time.

Some time ago i comment in this thread about a new game by D3 and a company called Media Vision Entertainment with the name "Riz-Zoawd", now GPara got new screenies and info of the game... and is still looking really beautiful.

The official site was also open and there is some curious info, like the staff behind the game has worked on Ogre Battle titles, Final Fantasy XII and Super Smash Brothers Brawl (i dont know exactly who is who in the staff, the Kanjis are too much for me).

gleylancer has some pretty interesting mechanics if you can squint your way through the first stage.

super fantasy zone is the total bee's knees, but i'm waiting on the sega ages pack too.

Remember Cloud Master/Chuuka Taisen on the SMS? This is the sequel, Shin Chuuka Taisen. It's not really related to Capcom's game, aside from theme. The game has cute art and a good soundtrack... not much else though. There are plenty of vids on youtube, go check it out. Be warned, the stages are long and dull.. and the shot noise is retardedly loud.

I think we need a prefroth thread, where we should investigate previous Wizard of Oz games (the few of them, anyway). Developer seems to be Media Vision, and that means Wild Arms.
