I'm pretty sure Devastator is only one Decepticon. Or are you saying Michael Bay is a liar? _________________ Still alive. |

The clock is actually set to your computer's time, it seems. As far as Chrono Trigger DS, goes, if it's a new game entirely, I hope they pull a Chrono Cross and make it have more or less absolutely nothing to do with the SNES game. Chrono Cross gets a lot of hate, and at least some of it is hate it deserves, but it's still one of the best (maybe THE best?) RPGs on a system known for being the high point for RPGs. Narrative-wise, it's a mess, but 40+ crazy characters and a battle system that's actually different from everything else makes it all worth it. |

No, they each got like 15 spin-off titles. So far... !! _________________ Still alive. |

That was hyperbole. Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children (feature film) Before Crisis (cell phone) Crisis Core (PSP) Dirge of Cerberus (PS2) Dirge of Cerberus: Lost Episode (cell phone) Final Fantasy X: X-2 Final Fantasy XI: Rise of the Zilart Chains of Promathia Treasures of Aht Urhgan Wings of the Goddess Final Fantasy XII: Revenant Wings (DS) SO FAR!! There are like three different XIII's in development, and VII's wink-wink remake in the works. In Japan, X and XII also had additional "International" versions with changed/tweaked gameplay features and content. And who will answer for the whoring Squeenix has committed with the Kingdom Hearts games?
The 3D models/maps/visuals in FF III (and the soon-to-be-released IV) look terrible on the DS. I can't think of one game on the system that actually uses 3D well, especially those two. As remakes, their visuals went from 2D to 3D simply because Squeenix wanted them to. In at least four previous remakes/ports Squeenix has added new quests and additional challenges. Opening CGI videos. Shit like that. And whatever happened to doing a literal port? By not throwing money at 3D engines, CGI, new orchestral soundtrack and the such, wouldn't it keep the price down and development time shorter? I can't imagine there is anyone that wouldn't buy a game because it's shitty retro graphics are sharp and well-defined with nonexistent load times speeding up the game's pace. Until otherwise informed, I will just assume the worst of Chrono Trigger DS. In the end, it may have about as much to do with the SNES Chrono Trigger as the GBA's Final Fantasy Tactics Advanced had to do with the PlayStation's Final Fantasy Tactics. _________________ Still alive. |

Episodes, sequels, expansions, it's all the same shade of green in the end. I was just rattling off games Squeenix churned out for/after Final Fantasy XI. So what if, technically, an expansion is not a sequel because it requires ownership of the previous title. Episodic content, as in Half-Life 2, is the same damn thing. You get so much more of a game which ultimately is just new locations and storyline. No real improvements on the engine or core gameplay. It might also be interesting that the original game and four expansions were released in the span of 5 years? That one a year and no one is supposed to call them out on this? Blizzard released one expansion for WoW three years after its release. Or what about Lineage II, which releases the same content (new lands/weapons/content) in free packs? _________________ Still alive. |

Western companies do this too. Star Wars Galaxies and Everquest had hundreds of expansion packs between them. Thousands, maybe. I understand it's all just business. Not only will they milk the core players for $!2 a month, they'll get an additional $30-40 per year. Ultimately I think the goals of expansion packs are to have something to advertise in magazines. So people will come across this new expansion pack and be tempted to either give it a shot or give it another shot to see what's new. Furthermore! If anyone out there don't see that Blizzard is pulling in $50 million a month easy in pure profits, then you need to have your head examined. There's a reason they are developing three titles right now, as opposed to the old Blizzard that would do one every few years. There's a new Starcraft, WoW and Diablo in the works. It's been ages since two of those titles came out, and I'm glad Blizzard is working on non-MMO titles. Because paying $50 for a Diablo game and playing that for a year and paying $50 for WoW with another $150 to play it a year are two entirely different things. _________________ Still alive. |
