Looks Souls-y enough.
The ship trapped between two rocks is pretty cool. I wonder if the two pictures of the area with the huge wall in the mountains are just two iterations of the same design or if we'll see the same locations under different states in the game. _________________ Guayaba 2600 |

that there appears to be a fully populated town is kind of weird in a souls game, but i suppose i'm willing to roll with it _________________

Lonely game no more.
I suppose it will help emphasize the differences between peaceful areas and dangerous dungeons even more. I see it more as a larger hub area. _________________ Guayaba 2600 |

| Wow. I really like this concept art. This is the best dark souls 2 I've seen. So much better than weird spring loaded dragon skull trap. The populated town thing has me a little nervous too but also a little excited? It could go either way for me. It could be executed more like a nexus minus the teleporting stones, or maybe they're just building concepts of what towns were like pre dark souls 2 and things will be as lonely as ever? Maybe they fuck eerything up? Who knows? :) medieval pigtail hipster cheerleader seems out of place. Really digging the costal locales thooo |

Who knows, though, that might be an opening credits sprawl, and by the time we get there everyone's dead for centuries. _________________

You can roll with it but because of lag you'll still get backstabbed

i mean yeah that is a cool idea but one of those images has a caption, "meet 'miko' (or witch) at the entrance to a village"
so yeah
who knows, maybe the townsfolk are all phantoms or something
i'm not assuming it'll be bad if it's just a normal, quiet seaside village, anyway
just think it's an interesting/curious change to the tone of the game, possibly _________________

About expected, I guess.
We don't know if is out of place because we don't know the role of that character or her environment.
I'd like the town to be just a place you pass through on your journey. You arrive, do your thing, and leave, never to return again (until NG+) _________________ Guayaba 2600 |

I think the issue is primarily the way she is dressed. It's way too "real life japan anime" trying hard to disguise itself as straight medieval/fantasy.
*I'm guessing that's Miko. I'm double guessing she's basically an instruction manual for the game's various systems. |

Hopefully there won't be any sort of tutorial at all.
That's the only way they can prove they are making the game for true Dark Souls fans only!!! _________________ Guayaba 2600 |

| Do people typically give a month specific release date a year in advance in advertising like that? Seems unusual. |

more troubling is how they've been all over the place with the release date. At first it was vaguely hinted to be a next-ben title, or at least both current and next-gen. and not coming out until sometime in 2014.
Then it is only a current gen title, with a release date in December 2013.
Now it's 2014 again. AGWAAAAAGH. |

not really?
pretty sure that first thing was just straight up speculation, and then after that when finally pressed on it they were just like "uhh, if it was going to come out this year, it sure as hell wouldn't be earlier than december, so..." |

Dark Souls 2 next gen speculation was seemingly only based on the EDGE article saying "this game is really pretty.". _________________

blue and orange
the only colors you need
the preview images of dark souls 1 were so much more colorful and varied. i remember drooling at the dark misty forest way back when, too.
