| That guy who does reasonably good game reviews in the NYT said Ghosts was almost endearingly campy |

My little brother who's gotten every CoD and Madden game at launch since 2009 has not even mentioned Ghosts, which strongly suggests to me that the franchise is waning in popularity among its key demographic _________________ Just another savage day on Planet Earth. |

Took me an hour and a half to get my free trade in. I lined up half an hour before opening and heard of some people waiting four hours.
Ghosts is pretty meh so far. |

Apparently this was revenue from wholesale, whereas they usually report revenue earned from sell through; Blops 2, for example, got a press release for only half a billion and they've already admitted that Ghosts is selling worse. So, draw your own conclusions. _________________

If you believe vgchartz (note: don't), Ghosts has ~5-600k pre-orders between the Bone and Quad _________________

But not all DRM-free, which bums me out considerably. They were already trending away from my preferred no-DRM absolutism, but I still had some hopes for the storefront. |

It's too bad we can't just have a nice ad about forest living and let the horror aspect be surprise once we start to play. Kind like how the movie sunshine kept its twist a secret. |

| The Unreal World is already a nice game about forest living. Someone just needs to give the creators a lot of money and then make a friendly version of it. |

I don't know, the subjects of Poser fetish porn emote better than most game characters
Speaking of fetish porn, I started playing Dragon's Crown again. I finally get how to play the Sorceress and having all that crowd control and mobility is pretty fun. I'm also enjoying the dumb buff to Amazon's parry skill (they patched it to give a stack of Berserk on a parry, so now you get 3 seconds of invulnerability and your perky walk and dumb damage from a parry). _________________

It might not make a major impact, but I do wonder what my life would look like if I'd been able to avoid knowledge of Poser fetish porn these last 12 years. _________________

Man, don't sell it short. It's not just LotR, it's also hilariously grimdark and videogamey:

Truly a piece of fiction to honor Tolkien's work.
(kinda interested in the whole "everyone has an individual name" thing, but let's not assume it actually works as it should) |
I am thoroughly convinced that it is impossible to make a good Lord of the Rings game. _________________ Let's Play, starring me. |

This is relevant to people in Toronto:
http://handeyesociety.com/wordplay/
"A free one-day festival celebrating the most interesting uses of writing and words in contemporary games.
What do writerly videogames look like? Come check out our showcase and play 20+ examples. Sometimes they’re mostly text on a screen, like Anna Anthropy’s twisted And the Robot Horse You Rode in On. Sometimes they’re gorgeously illustrated with prose inspired by magical realism and Flannery O’Connor, like Kentucky Route Zero. In Actual Sunlight, you battle depression as an RPG character. In Forumwarz, you can get into a war of words with virtual trolls on the web. In The Yawhg you decide what to do in the brief time before your town meets its doom. In Cart Life you have to remember when to pick up your kid from school after slinging coffee all day."
There are also some panels and you can also attend a workshop to make Twine games with Christine Love. |
