Sega Rally Revo for 360 & PS3 was not too hot. The graphics were candy-colored like every Sega racing title should be, but the controls were wonky as hell. Cars did not turn so much as rotate, if you catch my drift. Because of the consensus surrounding the home console Revo, the PSP Sega Rally entry has been unfairly ignored.

Looks like a Sega racing game to me!

The PSP Sega Rally is not Revo, despite its appearance. It wasn't developed by Sega Racing Studios. It doesn't have any of the same tracks. Interestingly, though, the color palette of Sega Rally (PSP) is nearly identical to Revo's, and the tracks are set in the same fictional locations featured in Revo. The HUD is identical to Revo's. The selection of cars is the same, so you get modern cars and older favorites like the Stratos and Delta (and non-Lancia classics too). Bug Bear, the developer, obviously coordinated with Sega Racing Studios to make sure both games look related.

Do you remember the awesome Alpine 2 track in Revo? It's not in this game, okay?

Fortunately, the similarities are only skin deep. What's different is the handling. It's far closer to the tight handling of Sega Rally 1 & 2. I am happy to report there is none of the floaty remote-feeling handling that people justly criticized in Revo.

I did not take this screenshot. I would never take a screenshot if I was slumming it up in 5th place.

This a good game, my brothers.

Maybe tight isn't the right word. More like responsive, especially when compared to Revo.
