| What you want to do is first put one SD Card in memory slot 1 of your adapter, put that in your PSP, then format it. Then you take the whole thing out, replace the first SD card with your second one (again in memory slot 1), put it in your PSP and format it again. Then finally you take it out, put your first SD card into memory slot 2, put the adapter back in your PSP and give the thing one final format. Hopefully that should get everything working. You need to make sure though to never use eirther of the SD cards outside of the adapter though or to let Windows format the whole thing or you'll need to start the whole process over again. I was also told that using two SD cards of different speed classes might be a bad idea but haven't been able to confirm it myself. |

thanks, Ymer. I seem to have it working for the moment. Shows up as 29GB on PSP and my Mac. Copied a couple games over and everything seems to be working. Fingers crossed. _________________

now that I'm using a 2500k instead of an old Wolfdale I decided to check back in on JPCSP and wheeee I'm playing Tactics Ogre remake at fullspeed
I still think they've made some mostly weird and unnecessary changes here but I'm still drinking them up with a spoon
are there any other PSP games I want to play? I remember trying to play VC2 and the Shonen-style storytelling of JRPG bullshit (combined with the fact that this emulator didn't work too well, and my computer wasn't powerful enough, two years ago) put me off, but that was before I got a PS3 and played the original (which I have pretty mixed feelings on). |

paging Pijaibros or anyone else who has used that Tactics Patch.
I have a mac. I'm not exactly sure how to go about getting my game patched up with the hack. This is new territory for me. _________________

The FFT patch is unique in that you don't need to patch an ISO or anything, the patch runs live as a homebrew plugin. That way, it even works with an official PSN download or even with the original UMD disc.
All instructions should come with the patch itself:
http://ffhacktics.com/smf/index.php?topic=8490.0
I'd also recommend against using the aspect fix ratio patch. While the game was indeed incredibly lazily ported and stretches both background art and character sprites to fit 16:9 things like portraits and menus aren't though which will make things incredibly cramped with the patch. It's easy enough to switch it on or off though from you PSP so give both a try. |

Seems to be a different format so no. You'll probably need to find some sort program to apply the patch with. |

I bought a super clean PSP fat the other day. It's got a single stuck pixel but looks brand new. Fairly sure that if you put it next to my clunky white 3DS XL and asked two regular human beings to pick the more impressive/expensive handheld all of them would go for the €35 PSP.
It came with the neoprene PSP sock and wonderful quaint 3.80 M33 firmware which put up an admirable fight to avoid getting overwritten. Had to find and apply a weird out of date brute force tool to get it to 6.20 OFW before I could do anything at all, and after that the 6.60 OFW linked from the wololo tutorial didn't work. Turns out it's like 300kb smaller than the 6.60 Sony supplies so idk what's up with that. The officially official firmware worked and once you have a regular up-to-date PSP it's indeed remarkably quick and easy to mod.
While in-use the only indication you're using a system designed on vellum in an age back when an economic crisis was a thing from the 80s is the fact it doesn't support WPA2-PSK wifi security even when fully patched up.
Uh I'm rambling about the hardware a bit because I don't quite know how to broach the subject so let me just spit it out: I AM PLAYING ALL THE MIKU RHYTHM GAMES (PLEASE SEND HELP)
(Aaargh! My hand is signing the petition to localize the vita one!)
Oh also 3nd Impact (san'd Impact, get it get it?) though it kind of overestimates how hype I am to hear twenty remixes of the Evangelion battle music (I'd rather hear a robot sing about cats). |

This particular hack is exactly what i'm playing. It has the slowdown patches already incorporated so all you do is find a program called PPf-o-matic and the correct ISO (emuparadise is a good source). Load up the patch load up the iso and hit the patch button.
My recommendation is to get past the first chapter as quickly as possible. It's the hardest part of the game because all your equipment sucks, your skills are limited, and if you grind too much, your enemies' skills and HP can quickly outgrow you. When you get to Chapter 2, more classes and (more importantly) proper gear appears in shops to be able to enjoy the game. It's still a bit tough, but you'll at least have options in how to go about the battles. Also the three extra generics you get at the start of Ch. 2 are slightly better than the generics you start the game with! _________________

Hm, was this by any chance due to the fact the (dank yellow) hold indicators were fucking invisible against the red background?
The only thing that got me through that was the fact it's called Beastie Girl. |

| In case anybody here cares (prolly not), World Series of Poker: Tournament of Champions is the best poker title on the PSP if you want Texas hold 'em. Why there are so many poor casino titles is beyond me. |

...............this explains a lot! I wonder if it's optimised for a certain PSP model's display. (White 1001 here) Oh well...after watching Eva 3.33 I don't think I'll be revisiting this game again. |

i don't think i'm going to get rid of my PSP, even when it goes fangoriously out of style; i've been having a lot of fun with it recently discovering all kinds of cheap JRPG's and action games that i never seemed to find on the DS _________________

| It's unfortunate that the PSP version of OutRun 2006 Coast to Coast requires you to link up with the PS2 version of the game in order to be able to buy all the cars/music etc. in the in-game store. I suppose you could download a complete save game from somewhere, though... |

English patch for Danganronpa released
Apparently this has gathered a healthy cult following in the west? I only ever heard about it because Masafumi Takada did the OST. |

I've seen Danganronpa panel listings at anime cons around here, and I don't mean big ones, and it confused the hell out of me that a Japanese-only visual novel had apparently gotten that much fan traction. _________________

Apparently there was a SA Let's Play of it that turned a bunch of people onto it. Didn't know it had a Masafumi Takada OST, that in addition to being a Phoenix-Wright-alike has guaranteed I'll play it. _________________

Holy shit
I mean first it's always incredible to see a game of this size scriptwise in English, but also based on screenshots they did a fucking good job with the hacking and localization, and

Playing Jeanne D'Arc. The "save character X" missions are seriously reminding me of some of the cheaper stuff in Final Fantasy Tactics. Like the game, but having the character I'm supposed to protect die in one round really forced me to take a break from it. _________________

I suppose this thread title is extra valid now considering Sony has officially stopped producing PSPs in Japan.
What a great little piece of hardware it was. I kinda regret that I never picked up one of the Japan-exclusive colors (tried buying a yellow while I lived there, but the price on amazon/yahoo was a little too much to pay and I was already pretty happy with my pandora'd black PSP).
First game I played on my PSP was Ridge Racer 2, which is sort of like a greatest hits compilation of old Ridge Racer tracks/songs with the nitrous mechanic added in the 360 & PS3 games. It's great. The UMD still sits in the drive (I load everything else off ISO), and I still fire it up from time to time. I beat Cave Story on it many times and I still think that port was the best way to play the game.
In Japan some of the students that I taught ran into me playing Monster Hunter while I was waiting at the station. One of them grabbed it out of my hands and the first he did was check to see if it had CFW installed. I wonder if anybody ever actually used a PSP in the way Sony intended. The fact that it was so easy not to was one of the things that made it great, though.
Lots of stuff to still look forward to, like that FF Type-0 fan translation. If you don't have one of these little boxes already, see if you can round one up before they become a little more scarce. I'd even choose my PSP over my Vita, as nice at it is (but we'll see how Vita fares after 10 years… and if it ever gets a Monster Hunter).
The PSP is dead; long-live the PSP. _________________

I've been hitting a bit of PSP revival in my life after realizing the PSPGo is pretty much the perfect size and weight for playing on a cramped train, and also now that I can read Japanese the library has tripled in size. Such an amazing device. _________________
