Always alarming to hear about people dying young, no matter their occupation. I'd always intended to try more of Eno's games, but the only one I ever got around to was One-Dot Enemies. I think I'll try to get/play the Newtonica games and You, Me & The Cubes (the only other games of his on platforms readily available to me) in his honor.
Reading about Eno's career, he truly sounds like the original Rockstar Game Developer. RIP. _________________ Just another savage day on Planet Earth. |

So, reading that giant 1Up interview and getting to the part about donating 1000 Saturns to blind people and basically telling Sony to fuck themselves at their own press conference, and I believe I can safely say that this dude was Fucking Awesome. I will never again watch a Sony presser without praying for someone to honor his legacy. _________________ Just another savage day on Planet Earth. |

I don't think I've ever before (knowingly) looked at the Twitter feed or other online presence of a dead person. Searching for "Kenji Eno" on Twitter, you get a swarm of people commenting on his death within the last 24 hours... only for that to peter out some ways down the page, and then the mentions prior to that are all Eno's own tweets, from just four days ago.
Four days. I guess eventually that will fade into a vaguer notation of "1 week ago" (does Twitter do that?) and then finally just a date, where it'll stay I guess for as long as Twitter's around.
I don't really know quite how to express the simultaneous sense of eeriness and sadness that this observation evokes in me. So I guess I'll just leave it there as-is. _________________ Just another savage day on Planet Earth. |
