ascending to rank 2 is a fucking pain in the ass
so do i keep any xp from missions now or am i just stalled until i can clear this bullshit? |
The xp from missions only levels up your guns or swords or suit, so I'm pt sure they keep lvling even if your rank is capped.
Your rank meter gets filled by 100 every time you level up a weapon, and 200 for every warframe level.
I don't know if weapon/suit levels accrued while rank-capped are cashed in when you finally ascend, though at least that xp isn't wasted completely.
What are the ascension challenges like now? The ones I did in closed beta consisted of just an infinite VR plane and some basic scrubs; all of them finished within 15 seconds. |

after bza offered me some tips and i switched back to the basic pistol with a few mods it was actually a snap
trying to do it with furis actually made it much tougher because it chews through ammo so quickly _________________

The rank 3 test I did the other day was just fighting off a few waves of the powerfist Grineer with melee weapons, was really easy.
Stream was pretty neat, they showed off some concept art and even old stuff from the original Dark Sector concept!
The new frame coming out is apparently a trap-focused combat engineer and the glaive from Dark Sector is coming "really soon". |

| They are going to start updating Endgame stuff with update 8. I feel like I am not even close to endgame at this point. Also, Dojos/player created spaces. Hooray. |

i'm a hell of a long way from endgame -- still tons of missions i haven't done because i started trying to farm stuff to build a rhino frame. pretty much running up against a wall there, so i should just keep playing as mag and enjoy that. (might be distracted by me3 multiplayer for a bit now, though.) _________________

Midair sliding!
heck yes
It is so fun that I redid my keybindings to facilitate slide combos:
right click = jump, mid-click = melee, scroll down = slide, spacebar = sprint.
I previously used scroll-up as jump until they made wall-running mandatory. :/
I unbound zoom-in.
A zoom-in button just feels vestigial, like its there to ease the FPS players. It also devalues the sniper guns (which are maybe present for the same reason.)
I mean, the up-close action---bisecting dudes, sliding, making chunks with your shotgun, or combining these---is immediate and fun. Hanging back and triggering a grunt's "grasp the air for 5 seconds" death animation with a slow firing sniper is not fun. Even if it was, level design is rarely big enough to justify using a sniper, and never big enough to use over a zoomed Braton.
(The new mammoth, empty outdoor spaces are the exception, but they feel contrived. Either the sniper gets left behind while he shoots inconsequential enemies, or he clears the place where his teammates are headed, meaning they have an even longer stretch of Not Doing Anything.)
The devs should remove the zoom button entirely and make sniper guns constantly zoomed and faster firing. Hells of difficult to use in tight spaces, strong enough to entice you to try. |

There was no endgame in closed beta, just an end of content. I'm pretty sure the two planetoids they added in patch 7 were just to provide parts for the two new frames they introduced.
The later planets kinda sucked; everything was recycled, even the bosses. They just resorted to making enemies into bullet sponges, then spamming you with the dudes who can stun. Get stunned--> begin your laborious 5 second getting-up animation--> get stunned in the middle of it--> repeat.
It wasn't very fun!
Hopefully they figure out something aside from "add planets, crank up numbers". |

It's probably a better idea to unlock all the systems first so you can get the prized ??? alerts when they show up rather than start farming blueprints in case you miss a potato alert. (Orokin Catalyst/Reactors, they double your mod slots and are only available from ??? alerts unless you pay for them with platinum) _________________

Mastery only seems to go up when you level up weapons and frames. So, if you get your excalibur to 30, to keep getting mastery points, you're going to have to use a new frame to do it. I think you unlock everything at mastery rank 4. Nothing happens after that at this point.
Oh yeah, ID is Iammadmak. Still holding onto this stupid username almost 15 years later. |

I got Nyx in the oven now, a potato'd Gorgon, maxed out Lato Vandal, and I just wanna fight some cool bosses! Bullet sponges are not exciting, there's only one boss currently that is really aggressive and tries to ruin your day out of all of them.
Edit: Patch came out and added the Glaive among other balance changes and fixes :) |

Update 8 sounds like it's gonna be adding some cool stuff besides the dojos even!
I've unlocked every system and the weapons I want at this point so I just need to level them, I'll do whatever mission with anyone if I'm online _________________

Version 8 is out. You have to build the clan dojo key :/ Not sure I'm interested in PVP anyway. Haven't played it yet, just logged in to get my daily reward.
I still play this, and I see stotelhime on there too, but I always get caught up in things and don't get to play together. |

yeah i play this every now and then, playing more lately because i'm trying to get my roommate into it and because the movement system is just capital-S Satisfying. the pay-to-not-win-but-do-moderately-well curve is a little too steep for my liking, though. it's free to play but all of the enjoyable content is locked behind a retail game. _________________ ookee |

There is a clan, yeah. I think only four of us are actually in it at the moment, but any of us (Me, Stotel, Youpi, otherguy) can invite you if you let us know your name (I think).
The clan stuff is pretty bullshit at the moment. Building stuff's really expensive, so only useful for big groups.

I got a key to a void mission the other day, maybe we should SB that some time.
And got a bit of forma as my log-in reward. |

Here's my profile. I'm down to play some games sometime.
I've been getting on a little every day, but I'm still super low level + don't exactly know what I'm doing with all the skills and foundry and stuff. |

I'm down, I'll probably be playing later tonight, have to do laundry at some point though...
Honestly, level doesn't really matter all that much if you're smart about how you play and understand your frame's strengths and weaknesses. I've actually managed to do the most damage/net the most kills/generally be awesome, even with a Loki frame, and even when I'm the lower/lowest level player in a random game, because I use mods that mesh with how I'm actually playing and rank them up a whole lot with fusions and trash cards.
Mods overall just seem overly complicated, but I guess the equipment/puzzle system is a cool concept. armor-piercing weapon mods are the way to go, especially if you can pair it with electricity. _________________ ookee |

I played this again for a bit tonight. I'm not sure if I'm keen on it. The game feels too floaty for me. When I swing my sword I'm never even sure if I'm actually hitting enemies. I still like a static piece of geometry hovering through space rather than a guyer-ninja.
Art direction is still great, and I played a solo mission and found that you can actually sneak up on guys and stealth kill.
I hope this is on PS4 cause i'd like to play it after it's been refined some more. _________________

I do! What's your warframe name?
I've got some new weapons, so happy to play some early missions.
--
Also, I'm probably a bit silly, but I only learned the other day that you can not only level up mods with fusion cores but also with other mods (only of the same type, as far as I've checked).
I've also been playing a few void missions with strangers through the region chat, which was fun! I've got one void key if anyone ever wants to do a mission). |

For whatever reason, the alert missions are super profitable today. Physique artifact, dark dagger blueprint, enemy radar artifact, forma blueprint, and shotgun scavenger artifact all right in a row, when there usually aren't this many mystery rewards in a full day. Really enjoying this gram.
I'm also levelling a sniper rifle, and dual shotgun pistols. I think I miss having an automatic though. Any weapon choice protips?
I still don't have a second suit.
We really should be able to hoard old stuff in the clan dojo. |

I have a Gorgon and it rocks, Stotelheim has a Boltor and it rocks. Dunno about the Grakata or Burston as much but the Braton is good for general use. Gorgon has a bigger magazine, higher base damage, but a wind-up period while the Boltor has innate armor ignore but significantly less damage and magazine size. The Braton is just a generic automatic rifle.
Finally got my Hek maxed out with +90% damage, +120% multishot, +90% armor pierce, +45% all elements and it tears through absolutely everything. Once I get faster reload mod it'll be even more ridiculous :D (Multishot for shotguns increases the amount of pellets per shot, so each shot for me has more than double the default amount of pellets, and potentially double the damage since the cone is so tight with Hek) |

stay away from the grakata for now, it can't really compete with other primary weapons as it does very little damage and burns through ammo at an unacceptable rate
the only way to get any use of it is to boost the critical chance and damage but it's still not good enough
also i can recommend the boltor and the latron, they're both really fun guns _________________ go away extralife
