I have a maxed latron, but was a bit unsatisfied at how much it moves after firing--so not much good for long range, which is why I wanted to try the sniper. Long range isn't any use for multi, but it suits how I play solo. I have to have a think and rearrange its mods, though. Mine is too general, and maybe needs to be more powerful?
I'm still just playing round, but I think I'd like to start thinking about two alternate weapon layouts, maybe one for solo and one for co-op. |

3 RARE ARTIFACTS FOR YOU TO GRIND FOR ALL WEEKEND
this game was cool at first, but now it seems like such a transparent MMO trap i just don't want to bother at all _________________

this is why i am okay with paying for games sometimes. free to play ain't free. they gotta squeeze money out of you somehow, and it feels like a soft-core con. _________________

grind for artifacts? sounds like it's just special alert missions... unless you consider playing defense missions grinding I guess
forma is so gamebreaking I wonder how they're going to end up balancing the difficulty, I've got one forma each in my Gorgon and Hek now and they just melt everything forever _________________

I got the first artifact, "corrosive projection." Enemy armor reduced. I guess that's pretty good? The mission was super difficult, if anyone wants to get together when the next one comes up, I'm down for it. This last one was a 20-wave defense mission with level 60 grineer at the end of it.
My rhino's aoe is weak. I was near-useless by the end, whenever I tried to iron skin I would just die, and without multishot my hek's damage output just wasn't good enough. I'm gonna put a Focus mod on so that the damage threshold is larger. Looks like I can get it up to 1040 max. _________________

yeah I just finished that mission too, was wild but we had Frost, Vauban, Volt, and Ember so it worked out in the end with all of us blasting our ultimates as much as possible in the last few waves
my Hek isn't even back to fully leveled and I was steamrolling the 50+ enemies with 120% multishot, 90% damage, and 90% AP damage. I got mine on Kiste, it seems like a great mission to get the good weapon damage mods because it's a lv 30-ish mobile defense _________________

i did two of the special missions and got an artifact each and so did the people i played with, so i think the drop rate for those is pretty much 100%
at first it sounded kinda grind-ish if you had to keep trying until you had all 3 (which i would do since i'm being a dumb completionist about this) but no this makes a lot more sense _________________ go away extralife

Yes, when an alert mission has a "?", that reward is always fixed and always goes to anyone who completes the mission. You can find out what it is beforehand through the warframe alert twitters and such. Usually it's an artifact but sometimes it's something like a special warframe helmet. _________________

why
(there's a bug where if you kill an enemy in one shot it doesn't count towards your damage done) |

alright so
i played some this afternoon at a friends and
does anyone else get really tickled when you watch obviously new players run through the lower levels (specifically, a level that requires you to wall run) and not know that you can, y'know

Fortunately I read this thread before trying it out, so what tickled me was running up the wall and the others standing there in silence and jumping in place seemingly going 'how did they do that?!'
But we all got stuck earlier in the same map where we apparently had to jump up some rocks, except you could get stuck on and slide off these rocks as if they were only intended to be the scenery they look like.
Warframe isn't a great communicator.
My general opinion is pretty aligned with Touran's. Floaty movement, gunplay like Mass Effect with no bite. Won't be playing more.
One thing that strikes me as weird is that the generated levels and connected-nodes level progression structure makes sense to me in a BLAME!-like dyson sphere megastructure built by out-of-control machines (because in a meta-sense these levels are built by machines), but way less sense as spaceship interiors. Game needs a lot more BLAME!. |

| Gosh, 20 waves. I did a 12 wave one with my newly reset Excalibur and Latron and can't imagine how they'd fit more enemies around the artefact. I orikined my dual Broncos and they're pretty terrific; those and the Gram saved me. |

The art direction in Warframe is much more attractive, but even though ME3's multiplayer is a bit short on maps it's a more satisfying thing to play in the long run. _________________

Big update (like 800 MB big) dropped today. Here are what I see as the most important changes:
Alerts with rare items will now last longer.
Grineer now have an animation when they activate a lockdown console, allowing more time to stop them.
Only enemies that see the player will activate panic buttons, no more lockdowns from mystery enemies in other rooms.
More importantly, there are warframe ability updates.
Rhino: Iron Skin no longer has a timer, only damage until it loses power. As if it already weren't powerful enough.
Also, Radial Blast no longer exists, its effects were rolled into Rhino Stomp. It's been replaced with a radial damage buff mod, up to 50% extra attack power for everyone in range. So basically, if you haven't yet, get a freakin' Rhino, it can now carry a weak team around on its own, just buffing attack and iron skin->reviving when needed.
Mag: Pull now affects all targets in front of the player instead of just one. That should make a big difference. Shield Polarize is now radial instead of single target, which, if it still works on teammates, will turn Mag into a much better support frame and a good substitute for Frost on defense missions. Also Bullet Attractor will now cause radial damage to nearby targets if the initial target dies before it wears out.
Volt: Speed is now a radial group buff, and it affects melee attack speed as well as running. Holy shit, this one is cool, I'm now gonna make a volt. Also Overload does more damage and Shock chains out further. This is now a melee madness frame.
And there's a very large list of glitch fixes. Eh.
Now if only they would do something to fix Ember. That should've gotten their attention over Volt. Oh well.
Edit: Oh yeah, the planets no longer rotate, or if they do they do so very slowly, so no more chasing planets around. At least on my display the level paths have also been heavily condensed, in some cases making it impossible to read the level names. _________________

Another one that really freaked me out. I have run bound to Mouse 4. The default now has block bound to Mouse 4 and it overwrote my setting.
You can block? I don't think I've ever done that. I was freaking out and thought you couldn't run with heavy weapons anymore. _________________

Over the weekend there was a COMMUNITY EVENT where they asked everyone to kill a bunch of small drones in Grineer levels. The whole thing was poorly done--if the community collectively destroyed 100% of the drones necessary, everyone who killed 20 or more got two versions of a gun that had previously been taken out of the game (or, a gun and a blueprint). Players and clans in the top 100 kills were to get some extra stuff, who cares, with a community of 40k+ regular players there was no point whatsoever in trying to get in the top 100 unless you were going to dedicate every second of your weekend to the game. Worse still, nobody was given a clue about the total number of drones that needed to be killed (there was only a progress bar out of 100%), so there was no way to tell how much influence you, personally, could have over the results, which killed most folk's motivation to help the community. So almost everyone killed 20 drones and stopped.
I guess we pulled through in the end, because I now have a snipetron vandal and a snipetron on the way. What's really funny to me, though, are the diehards in the forum who were throwing hissy fits when it looked like we weren't gonna kill enough. They were all, "EVERYONE WHO ONLY KILLED 20 DRONES SHOULD BE BANNED IMMEDIATELY" and "THIS IS A COMMUNITY EVENT HOW DARE THEY NOT TRY TO HELP THE COMMUNITY THE BASTARDS AUGH," not for a second thinking to blame the developers for giving crappy incentives and obscuring how many drones were necessary. And, of course, not even waiting to see whether we even succeeded or not.
The moral of the story is that there are no online multiplayer-focused games with cool communities and there never will be, the end. _________________

I really disliked League. Warframe is much more my kinda game, and I'll probably stick with it for a while longer, especially if they keep improving it. I've never really done this beta thing before and watched a game get cooler and cooler in real time.
I actually think it's cool that everyone got together and killed enough drones and I think events like that are a really neat idea, this one was just poorly implemented.
Dark Souls' community is a lot like Warframe's: a very mixed bag of trolls, dickass cheaters, diehards, and people just havin' fun with a game they really like. Dark Souls has a much bigger action vocabulary and more ways to interact with other players (especially since you can trade things and change outfits in realtime), so it's cooler on that basis alone. _________________

Yeah I can't get into LoL, especially when I can sit down and do a Warframe mission in 15 minutes whereas in LoL I'd spend 15 minutes before even fighting an enemy player in a match usually :(
Not to mention the ridiculous community _________________

| This new map is annoying. Now I can't--: See which resources on on which planet from the main map, and they only display as icons on the planet map; quickly see how many squads are active on a map; easily see which stages I haven't played (I still can, though); see what map other members of the squad have voted to play next. Am I leaving anything out, or have I got anything wrong? |

yeah, it's pretty bad.
hopefully those common sense details simply didn't get coded to satisfaction in time for the update release
also be sure not to click on the LORE button unless you're prepared to quit/reload the game; ain't no way back to the solar system map from what i can tell
edit: the new committee-designed frame is awful. the body is just a z-brushed catsuit and the head looks like something out of a chuck jones cartoon
edit edit: all the stuff bluebs mentioned has been fixed as of like 5 mins ago. except the # of squads active on a map, still have to hover to see that.
SO, this new map style is pretty sweet. You can even see who's in your squad now! WONDERS |

ok, so i bought the starter pack and i've got some platinum now. do i stick with my mag and just buy some weapons (and what weapons should i buy?) or do i try a new frame and maybe see if i have a bit left over for fun stuff? i've been curious about rhino, unless any other frames might come highly recommended. _________________

i generally think it's smarter to just spend the platinum on slots, catalysts and reactors but doing that means more of a time investment since getting all the parts BPs for a frame can take maybe 10-15 runs on a boss, if you decide you want to buy one anyway i think rhino is pretty great, nyx is really great+fun and the same goes vauban
i definitely think buying weapons is a waste though since the blueprints are really cheap and generally you should have enough materials to make a few if you haven't been spending it on anything but if you absolutely must then i'd suggest the boltor
if you don't have enough ingame money to buy stuff just holler at anyone of the more experienced players when we're playing and we can invite you to a void mission where you'll earn between 20 and 65 thousand each run _________________ go away extralife

I bought one of the founder sets a while back and have only spent plat on slots and potatoes. Buy enough slots to hold one of each warframe that you like and to hold 3+ options for each weapon type. If you need more, well, slots are cheap. _________________
