Jeez, what is this lady's deal with the NFL. The idea that it's entertainment for the privileged is... well, I don't even know what to say about that.
I'm not reading six pages of god damn thread but let me get this straight ok. The thing is called XBox One (what?) and it's trying to be a PS3 all over again except with more Kinect bullshit and online-necessary DRM. Did I miss anything? _________________ Let's Play, starring me. |

"status-chasing" is the term she used, which I don't think is quite as bizarre as privileged.
though it isn't the reality, it's pretty easy to equate nfl fandom with douchey white privilege if you don't care about football. |
I... no, I disagree, it shows that you're completely out of touch with any ordinary people. If anything, the stereotype of football fandom is blue-collar dunces grunting approval at colliding meatsacks so they don't protest their terrible lives etc. I guess my point is that she's not even in touch with the stereotype, is how far away she is from reality. It's not necessarily a negative judgment (ok, it is a little) so much as it's just headscratchingly weird. A David Cageian ignorance of human behavior. _________________ Let's Play, starring me. |

Straight up.
How the hell am I supposed to say "XBox One" without saying "XBox One" all the time? You can't just call it a One. An XO? Did they think about this for a second? _________________ Let's Play, starring me. |

Syllables sure, but it's all glottals, it stops up in your mouth and there's no flow. It's horrible to say all the time. And, to an extent it's just a concession to humaneness to allow people to talk about your expensive luxury object without having to pronounce its (C) (R) (TM) name in full. Like "Playstation" has the same number of syllables as "PSX" or "PS1" but most people prefer the latter in conversation. If I have to say "XBox One" every time I'll feel disgusting, a human advertisement. _________________ Let's Play, starring me. |

Rumor is that not only is Respawn's debut Xbox exclusive but also Mirror's Edge 2 which suddenly popped up on a bunch of European Amazon sites.
Of course if true they are probably timed but dangit EA. |
Jesus lord let this not be true. This is the worst news. Two of the only games I'm actually interested in from the "new" generation :( _________________ Let's Play, starring me. |

I feel like I want a PS4, but I can't for the life of me figure out why when I have a gaming PC. _________________ Let's Play, starring me. |

It's mostly a matter of what kind of security you actually want. If I want to be able to play my games in 10 years, it seems physical copies with no DRM is probably more secure than digital purchases (I tend to think I can take better care of my stuff than some transnational corporation will care to maintain an aging DRM scheme). (Also, insurance only gives you money, not games. You may get your $120, but you'll lose your rare N64 cartridge forever.) If I want to be able to play my games in 1,000 years, well actually I don't want to cause I'll be dead, and that kind of archiving ain't my job. _________________ Let's Play, starring me. |
