well there is an ability you get later on that makes that timer refill faster based on ammo pickups (?) which means when you are in the shit, it refills pretty quick.
also, there is a subclass for the hunter all about knifing, so shrugclass.

I enjoy using all of them at different times, though auto rifle gets the least play-time. I'm a little too sloppy to use hand-cannons all the time, so i usually go with pulse or scouts. |
pulse rifle rules because the three shot burst makes headshots stupid easy on AIs.

Yeah, I have (had) that on all the time and it wasn't enough D:
Unlocking the other subclass and discovering I'd have to level it from zero to get things like grenades and double-jump for it kind of put me off for a while. I've never had the patience for mmo grindin'. _________________

| Since I've swicthed to a semi-auto rifle, I've used the knife less and had more fun playing the game. It's forced me to focus on headshots and not just spamming enemies with bullets. |

I always used the semi-auto rifle because I always prefer semi-auto rifles in games.
I guess I should say that I obviously have some tolerance for MMO grindiness since I reached level 18~ before my work week started, but having to break the flow of of stolid marching through story missions/whatever strike comes up to specifically grind out abilities and see if I like a new subclass (because using it in whatever I would normally play next results in too much horrible death) rends the veil 2 HARD 4 ME _________________

How many of you have succumbed to the succubus that is the treasure cave?
I did it for an hour and got a few nice things, but I enjoyed the two public events that disrupted the cave shooting more than the actual activity itself.
Firing into a cave together with other dudes just makes me think about the Allegory of the Cave more than anything. _________________

| Auto rifle sucks in PvE because the jitter makes it difficult to get headshots. And Destiny PvE is pretty much all about headshots as they do a good 3-4x more damage, hits to the body are a waste of time. I've heard it's popular in PvP though, probably because high player mobility makes your odds of getting a headshot low in any case (while PvE mobs mostly stand around and let you aim at them). |

I really want to show you how wrong this is, but not 60 bucks worth of want. I ran through most the story missions on hard with an AR and had no problems hitting crits. honestly, everything felt balanced enough so that you could run with any weapon type in PvE and not be gimped and have it just be a matter of how well you aim.
with that said, ARs were absurdly good in the beta and they didn't get nerfed, so _________________

I'm inclined to believe you, so I guess either it's that I'm not as good at holding aim continuously, or it's because I generally prefer to keep my distance (the jitter has a big effect at a distance but not so much up close), or both.
One oddity is that the "range" stat on the weapons seems practically meaningless. I can't remember an instance of failing to connect a hit that was aimed on target, even with a low-"range" gun like the hand cannon (which seems excellent for sniping really). But the stability problem of the AR makes it weakish at a distance no matter what its "range" stat says. |

There isn't any actual in-game clan functionality outside of your clan's name appearing on the banner. You need to add everyone from the clan to your friends list if you want to play with them. |

I'm willing to bet money that the range stat on guns just controls when damage falloff happens instead of having any sort of accuracy buff/penalty over longer distances, which seems mostly pointless since much of the game is mid-to-close quarters
if only I posted this much about games I like _________________

You aint gotta THINK about the games you like in the same way
Naturally, especially when they hit that sweet spot where theyre functional but fucked in all kinds of tiny ways, youll really consider just how these things are wrong, yknow ? _________________

The special event that started today guarantees legendary equipment.
There's a third section of bounties at Bounty Man that represents the Queen's faction. It contains the same kinds of missions you see in the Vanguard PvE and Crucible PvP bounties but you earn Queen reputation instead. You also get a Queen's Something-or-Other for each bounty completion. Each one lets you take one Queen's Wrath mission (just choose it from the left column of special missions on the mission select screen); these are just randomly selected mission set to very hard difficulty. Upon completion you'll be given one Legendary piece of equipment at the mission rewards screen. The door behind Bounty Man is also open now, leading to a open, giant, empty hall with a seller for the Queen's faction at the far end. |

I actually use range a lot with the gunshooty Hunter subclass to support Those Who Charge In. I've used it to support booji the times we've played, and it seems to work out as long as you can get a good spot. It feels right good to help tear down a yellow life bar enemy when whoever's in the thick of battle is running to recover health or reloading.
I got this game on Friday and I'm level 17 now. I hear life begins at level 20. I'll probably have that by the weekend. _________________

I reached level 20 the other day and all that's left is redoing the same stuff over and over on harder difficulty levels. The harder difficulties don't seem to do much except increase enemy damage and HP, and add some arbitrary modifiers like triple enemy melee damage.
I did try replaying my favorite mission (invade the docked ship and kill the Fallen big boss) on level 20-calibrated difficulty, and the only thing different from my initial playthrough is that the Stealth Vandals in the final room kept one-shotting me from behind because of the melee modifier. So either the missions feel the same or the game balance is broken, in either case there's no interesting new challenge. Not really planning to grind further just for the sake of farming legendary equipment I can't do anything interesting with anyways (Vault of Glass looks cool but it seems way too difficult to organize a group).
I'm not really mad about this though, there's about as much content in the game as any of the Halos so I got my money's worth. The idea that the game is infinitely replayable when everything is statically designed is just strange to me though: in my mind random generation is necessary for PvE content to have a long lifetime (some of the only games I've played 100+ hours of are Shiren, Spelunky, Nuclear Throne). I guess maybe MMOs have the same philosophy (I never played an MMO). |

Yeah, my sense of "life begins at end-game" is that the game changes from a FPS single player campaign plus side-missions into a largely social event. That's the main reason I picked it up in the first place. I'm actually pleasantly surprised that I'm enjoying the game since I rarely play FPS titles. _________________

bumping up the difficulty on story missions doesn't serve to make things too interesting, though the modifiers that come attached to daily and weekly events can make much more significant impacts. the weekly heroic strike has been a pretty enjoyable experience! though if i wasn't playing with two bros maybe it wouldn't be so satisfying

Just got level 20. By the description of the Riksis mission, I spent about 45 minutes in the Earth area specifically named "Cosmodrome" looking for the bastard. Finally broke down and looked it up. Super fast bounty. _________________

if a bounty asks you to kill a specific (named) target, it always tells you in which mission you can find them, and you can always find them by simply playing through the mission normally. if it's not immediately clear which direction to go on the minimap, just pull up your ghost w/ the touch pad button. there shouldn't ever really be much guesswork involved. |

| succumbed to the sweet, sweet monotony of the loot cave. It's a perfect way to blow off some steam after a miserable day of work. It's the equivalent of Link slashing bushes with his sword, and I love it. It's also a great way to grind and get some decent loot. I went from Level 15 to 19 in only a few hours. |

i joined y'all's clan (i'm infophysics on bungie's social network thing?) but i have no idea how that works in game :\
my warlock hit 20 the other night. i'm surprised at how well i'm doing at pvp on this? is the PS3 crowd terrible? i usually don't win random free-for-all matches in these sorts of games.
i've had a few good halo-esque 'wait did that happen' moments, most memorably going on a 5 kill streak with a spacebike on a mars map only to start coming out on the losing end of a tangle with another spacebike. they nearly wreck my bike but i boost around a bend out of their sight, ditching the bike and sprinting into a trench area. other guy comes careening around looking for me & flies into the trench, giving me the opportunity to blow him up in mid-air above me w/ nova bomb. then some jerk sniped me seconds later :( #rip
as always, summon me to yr fights if you need everything lit on fire and comically fast cooldowns if you stand next to me (sunsinger is so funnnn) |
