Is Last Guardian still happening? I actually bought my PS3 - and pretty late into the cycle - in part because of Last Guardian's December 2012 release date. It was only after I had the thing for about a month that I realized that Last Guardian's release dates are actually a rather tasteless inside joke.

There used to be a patent on part of the format with a rather aggressive patent holder, so even though it expired almost ten years ago most developers tend to stay away from gif-related software purely out of habit, I guess.

It does look really nice and probably will be one of the first games I get after I eventually get a PS4 but I'm kind of wondering why this isn't just a PS3 game instead.

Still, whatever you want to call the "genre" this type of game belongs to I don't care because you can count me in regardless. Watching this trailer made me want to revisit Ico/SotC and actually play Journey past the demo.

You know what game I think fits firmly in this category but nobody likes, is that Prince of Persia game with Nathan Drake. It's a lot more gamey and less contemplative, of course, but it still makes me think of Journey more than anything else.

Yeah, the best part is that they've got a minute of time to fill with footage, and from capes to the sideways-jump to the shadow monsters to the torch to the broken bridge and tower to the FONT even, they actually didn't have anything else to put in their trailer that they didn't bite from 2 different games by the same dude.
