:D I do like man purses better than girl purses. I can fit more in there.
Right now though I have a girl purse because it is bright yellow and reminded me of Freddie Mercury. |

| That shmup bag is totally a purse. The strap is ever so thin! If you buy it, you might as well start wearing pink panties. |

If you're going to make a bag for a man you need to learn how to sew using manly materials. Like chains. And leather. And bones and sinew. _________________ interdimensional |

Oh, if you're a member of Something Awful you can get pretty sweet deals on American Apparel clothes. I like treating AA like Gap because it's a) decent b) fills out parts of your wardrobe that are really boring to actively think about filling out. When it's cheap and online (i.e. encourages laziness), it's pretty much the perfect filler clothing. _________________ interdimensional |

I was considering using very heavy HEMP. If I can find some around.
Back to the topic somewhat, I did buy a Hat from those italian guys: http://www.yoox.com/
Why would I buy clothes online anyway. We have entire streets dedicated to clothing in here. And they don't suck. I mean there's a comme des garçons boutique. And by comme des garçons I mean junya watanabe.
Also Edwin jeans.

Definitely a purse, but to each his own.
I understand the anti-Diesel comments made. Personally, I use the brand as a "midrange," but yes, most of their washes are ridiculous-looking. The jeans themselves last a fair bit longer than the average Levi's, though; at least, mine have. But yeah, dongle you sound like you've done your research, so I'm going to look into the brands you mentioned. I really don't know that much about denim beyond my admittedly limited brand selection.
Regarding $130+ on jeans: I pay for quality, style, and fit. I am very skinny, so it's pretty important that I have jeans that fit well and look good, especially considering how often I wear them. It's also pretty easy to find good deals on popular brands of denim if you A) check for sales at any b&m store or B) look around on the internet. I don't think I've ever paid more than 70 or 75 for Diesels, for example. _________________

Yeah, I rock some STFs and the rigid skinner jeans. There's nothing wrong with certain parts of their Premium and LVC lines, either.
I guess my previous post came off as anti-Levi's but the point was intended to be "$100+ jeans aren't only for vanity and don't mean OMG CHECK OUT THIS EXTREME THIGH AND ASS FADING WITH PAINT SPLOTCHES AND HOLES". In a very utilitarian sense (covering my coverables), my more expensive jeans have provided worthy service time per dollar.
Also, shout-outs to Sugarcane, Eternal, and Studio D'Artisans.
Wpham, how do you wear your skinny jeans? Close/tight/super tight? |

Close. I'm all about comfort and a proper fit, not choking my balls.
I'm also looking for a decent pair of boots. These were recommended to me. Opinions? _________________

Edwin, yes.
Selvedge/selvage seams are a sign of care and craftsmanship. At the least, they make cuffs look better. At the best, it's a great finishing touch adding an extra bit of finesse and durability to a well-made pair of jeans.
It's sort of turning into a buzzword, though, since even GAP / A&F and co. had selvage jeans last season. GAP's were at least one-wash, unworn, and unsanforized so they at least understood what they were co-opting. |

So I consulted with my denimotologist. He recommended this Japanese blog to see how various brands fade under extreme conditions, and mentioned Sugar Cane, Samurai, Iron Heart, and Pure Blue Jeans as go-to brands for selvage. But he's also looking into picking up a pair of these when he goes to Japan, and man, I can't help it, but I think it'd be cool to wear a wolf howling at a moon while standing on a cliff on my ass. Other than that, I'm looking into this particular pair of Samurais as an investment to replace my fading Paper Denims. _________________

Yeah, those look awful. Get a pair of Fryes engineer boots and be done with it.
My current favorite pair of jeans are Z-Brand, which fit me (very tall, very skinny) better than almost anything, though they're new and I haven't washed them yet. I've had some success with Earl Jeans as well, but that's been really hit or miss depending on style. _________________

Man, one thing I always have trouble with when shopping for jeans is that most jeans these days are designed for skinnier legs, not people with freakishly large 17" calves like me.

Thanks for the tip on the Frye Engineers. They look pretty damn solid. _________________

my dancer friend Mark actually has a pair of Levi's ("Red" something maybe?) that I really covet, but wouldn't look nearly as good without a totally built lower body like his. They've got a weird irregular seam (it's offset and curved, I think) that looks great. If I think of it I'll ask what they are next time I see him. _________________

Something from the Levi's Red Tab line maybe? I've heard of 'em. It is a pretty big line though, lots of different cuts. Probably tried some on before. Might even own a pair! Haven't really looked at them extensively though. Should be cheap though, so I can experiment, and poke around and look for these mystical big-leg-curvy-jeans. I will do this! Thanks.
I always have to look for wider-legged jeans and it is unfortunate that my lower body is easily my most built area and you can't really show it off in pants, so something that does would be pretty neat...

They are. I love mine, but one thing to consider is they're pretty serious business, and heavy. I wore them to work one night, and I could really feel the burn after standing for 8 hours straight. I suppose you'd adjust though; one of my girl friends wears hers all the time with no complaints. I may just be a wuss.
EDIT: Yeah Stott, I think that's it. _________________

By the by, I purchased a shirt from www.imaginaryfoundation.com and never received it. They won't return my emails or phone calls either. Yet, lo and behold, my credit card was charged. _________________ “We completely understand the public’s concern about futuristic robots feeding on the human population, but that is not our mission,” - Harry Schoell, Cyclone Power Technologies Inc, in response to erroneous reports about a robot under development. |
