What was that PS2 dynasty warriors clone that had like 1000 enemies (tiny sprites) on screen?

That one part in Kingdom Hearts 2 (which was faking it) was probably one of the only times I was like "woah at the # of things on this screen."

I recently instituted a policy that I won't buy a console until after the first price drop. I see no reason to change it now, especially with the lack of media features on the PS4. I might even wait for the second hardware revision - as far as I can tell there's nothing they can strip out of either console to save money like they could with the PS3's PS2 hardware.

Is the Vita slim coming to the US at some point?

The PS4 will cost about $1720 here at launch. The Xbone, assembled in the country instead of being imported, will still cost $945 (with an expected price rise in the following months). How great is that

Vita slim? I would hope the Vita TV does, thats the next system I am expecting I will allow myself to afford. Annoying that the JPN version requires a JPN PSN+ account.

The Vita TV region thing probably has more to do with the games they're supporting (which is not Every Vita Title), so keeping it to Japan's PSN ensures no one's buying a title they can't play.

I will most likely get a PS4 at some point but not until either: 1) It has a fully functioning GTA on there (as in, either an original game for that system or a port with all the system's share features added on) or 2) there's a hardware revision and/or price drop. There isn't anything that's really making me want the system over than the novelty of it I guess. Not any games out for it yet that I care a whom lot about.

Honestly I also really want to wait and see how the Steambox shapes up. I'll probably get one of those before I get another console since my desktop started giving me trouble again and doesn't want to boot. I think I might end up with the Steambox for the AAA + some indie PC gaming experience and a laptop or something for the rest of my normal computing.

The worst thing about the PS4 is that all the footage coming out shows the PS4's PSN store is the exact same design as the current PS3's store design.

The issue with the current PSN store isn't the design, but rather how slow it runs. As long as it runs at a decent clip, I'll be fine with it, as opposed to actively cursing its designers names. Or, you know, use the web store.

I'd be excited about the notice that my PS4 has been shipped if I wasn't sick and slightly delirious from a lack of sleep.

I haven't used the PSN store on one of Sony's consoles yet, but the web version you can access with other computers isn't that good. It's slow and the available categories differ by region. Finding something using the navigation is a pain, so you use the search function. But you're only going to find something that way if you know what you're looking for.

For example, I'd like to see what PSOne Classics are on the EU PSN store. But there's no category for it, so I would have to browse all games of one system and weed them out one by one.

given how long ago there were essentially accurate rumors of who the protagonist of DR3 was (a Hispanic mechanic), it's kind of frustrating to hear that it still has tech problems. I guess they must've converted the game from a 360/PS3 product and maybe overshot? Oh, here:

Code:
The game was revealed as originally being developed with high-end PCs in mind so the team could realise their expanded vision for the series, before Microsoft offered to partner with them for it to become an Xbox One launch exclusive.

:\

The original reveal of it looked pretty dumb, but I would think that the main appeal is in having vehicles you can drive through zombie hordes. I realize there's been a billion zombie games released in the past decade, some entirely about driving over zombies, but that still seems fairly novel for an A(A?A?A?A?) game with a theoretically fully-realized world.

Code:
Dead Rising 3 also allows players to create "combo vehicles", such as combining a motorcycle and steamroller to form a "RollerHawg".[11] Each combo vehicle includes two seats and a secondary attack to support cooperative gameplay.[11] According to Capcom Vancouver, driving vehicles will be "a critical part of exploration" as players navigate the city of Los Perdidos.[10]

sounds pretty cool to me.

wait, really, the Vancouver team is making it? I thought they all but closed the studio here after DR2 (I know a guy who left right after that; I think there were at least some pretty sizeable layoffs). also, DR2 wasn't that great of a game.

Capcom Vancouver essentially went right from DR2 to Off The Record, then seemingly to DR3. Well, that, and Ono got dumped there by the home office.

I want DR3 to be good; I enjoyed DR2 a bit and loved the performance of the PC port (60fps with no effort and quick-ass loads), so hearing of the technical foibles of 3 has me concerned but it's still pushing a bunch of funny, stupid things like a motorcycle-steamroller. I'm just confused over their official commercial, which uses Happy Together but never mentions the co-op at all (seriously, what the fuck marketers, get on your A-game).

I wanted to play DR3 too but then came the quote about them "going for the Call Of Duty audience" and that was that. Also it will inevitably be ported to PS4 with enhancements so I'd rather wait for that if I'm gonna play it at all.

WEll, yeah. The PS3's store was face lifted to be in-line with Sony's next gen design cues.

Shu Yoshida is streaming PS4 games because he can

I feel like this is getting too close to the powers that be in the industry. At the same time, it looks pretty nice.

Yeah, the PCH-2000. Slimmer, lighter, longer battery life, USB charging instead of some stupid proprietary thing. Just came out in JP, no announcement for US now that I look around.

Saw some duders standing in line outside a gamestop at 4:30pm yesterday. All standing with 7.5 hours to go.

You got Killzone right? Would you mind playing together in a few hours if PSN is actually working at any point today (I'm on US East Coast)?

Surprisingly, the PSN is in pretty good shape, fast-ish downloads and no major issues baring a couple of errors on the shop. Though I did manage to hard lock my system already (Warframe was updating, then I went out to check streams and my PS4 went "nope"). I need to set up a twitter thing so I can help my screenshots escape the system.

Depends how much later, I have to do some light packing in a bit, but otherwise I'd be down.

also also, streaming some Knack, because the future

Dear 4-5 people who watched me Knack:I'm sorry for being bad. Knack on hard is Cerny out for blood. It's better than reviews are claiming, but I can see where they're coming from.

The OS is pretty robust, some jankiness aside and it makes want to see what MS does, as the 360's OS was usually a fair deal better than the PS3.

Hey looky what I brought home from work.

So, Killzone's actually not horrible, at least not so far. Way less boxes-and-corridor shooting gallery than I was being led to believe. If anything it's like...Crysis, kinda?

I downloaded Contrast and Resogun, will try them tomorrow.

I took some other shots of the screen doing stuff but honestly it's all UI stuff that's all over the internet and/or I'm too lazy to upload them right now.

System's pretty robust. I'm digging the light bar on the console. Not so much on the controller. Figured the controller light would be annoying because it reflects off my TV and, well, it is. It also has a weirdly large amount of color gradient in it and acts as a health indicator in Killzone, so I could see how hurt I was by seeing the reflection of my controller's giant-ass LED light in my TV. While not exactly a great way to convey info to me, it's at least kind of novel?

wait, whoa, Warframe is on this already?

this bolsters my interest in a PS4 significantly.

also, just learned that Digital Extremes are an Ontarian company and apparently one of the greatest to work for, frequently rated within the 10 Best in Canada and with numerous awards. I feel a lot of pride right now, ahaha.

Warframe controls pretty well, all things considered, though it isn't as easy to do chain jump slides, sadly. Black light is my personal favorite purely on the basis of being able to set separate sensitivities for free and fine aim.

Also, the lightbar is really bright. Played in a dark room last night and it was basically like a crappy LED flashlight.

Oh yeah I forgot to mention: I almost jumped out of my flesh the first time I picked up an audio log in Killzone because -- surprise! -- it immediately begins playing through the speaker on the control and OH HEY THERE'S A SPEAKER ON THE CONTROLLER. A pretty goddamn loud one, too.

Also I may see about streaming some Resogun later if people want to see that maybe?

I have no idea how to actually go about this and have never done but I figure I might as well take a token stab at using that feature rather than just screaming at the kids to get off my lawn.

that they're up front about it being required to play online is of little concern to me as long as they keep giving away good games after a fee of $50/year. at least that's how i'm feeling after i finally subbed to play dragon's dogma — this is basically a service i want to have.

Streaming is stupid easy; you set some settings, link your twitch/Ustream account, start from the share screen and, uh, it goes. I have no idea how it looks (I Knacked on high quality, but I was usingthe same monitor as my computer), but it can't look but so bad.

When you were streaming there were bars on the bottom and the right, I think. The bottom one showing the chat feed, and I don't remember the right side one.
