| What does Suda actually have to do with Shadows of the Damned, Lolipop Chainsaw, Killer is Dead or any of these recent shitty Grasshopper games that people call Suda games and say are examples of him having "lost it" though. |
He's usually credited as "executive director" (a position that seems to be popular in Japanese productions and virtually nonexistent everywhere else) and sometimes writer. The only game he's "directed" since the original No More Heroes is Liberation Maiden.
Anyhoo as I've said many times by now my GotY is SMT IV in spite of its flaws. Can't compare it to Nocturne but I think overall it's been the most fulfilling experience I've had with a single game this year and certainly the one that's most felt like a continuation of the kinds of games I loved when I was younger. _________________ Just another savage day on Planet Earth. |

adding a thing about gta5 for my "mixed feelings" category
| Code: |
| grand theft auto 5 - yeahhh. man, was i into this game until it slapped me with some grossness it just couldn’t come back from. i know: it’s gta, a game series where you play as criminals who steal cars and murder people. until this one, i had never played a gta that forced me to torture a person in order to advance the plot. before that, though, it was the best gta i had played — its heist sequences and logistics planning were exactly what i wanted, and there was a lot of cool stuff going on between the three characters you could switch between freely (most of the time). and that water at the beach: oh man. best water in a game, ever. and the sunsets! after a while, though, franklin (initially the most interesting character) started to seem like a third wheel, or the most obvious cypher for the player while michael and trevor took center stage, and i felt like that was a shame. in his silent complicitness and his aunt scolding him for his loss of humanity i recognized my feelings about the game and the things it was asking me to do, when really all i wanted was to dress up in nice clothes and drive fast cars around the city and its beautiful outer limits. after switching to trevor a few more times and seeing him leave the bed where it was heavily and comically suggested he’d been raping the guy whose apartment he had invaded, i couldn’t do it anymore. i like to think that’s where franklin finally gave it up, too. |
