...on Android/iOS, apparently? When the fuck did this happen?

I bought it a few days ago when I saw it in the Play store, and holy shit:

Japanese box art and menu themes?

Smooth-scrolling bonus stages redone with polygons?

Widescreen support without any graphics glitching?

And graphics without any filters, bright colors, correct Genesis sound (as far as I was able to tell with headphones on), and touch controls that somehow aren't shitty?

Also: You can play as Knuckles. Also: THE HIDDEN PALACE ZONE HAS BEEN COMPLETED AND REINSTANTED INTO THE GAME WHAT THE FUCK

This has somewhat blown my mind, and was enough for me to confirm that the other Sonic games available for Mobile were done by the same team (they are) and, well, congrats guys you get my money.

Awww yeah.

Live on my homescreen and be happy.

Right? Considering all this started as him uploading a YouTube video of Sonic CD running on an iPhone as a proof of concept, I'm pretty shocked at how well this has turned out.

Now if only those versions of Sonic 1 and 2 could get PC releases...

makes me wonder what discussions Sega had, if any, with that guy who made the Shining Force 2 DS proof of concept

I had an unbelievable amount of fun with the Sonic 2 debug mode cheat as a kid, just mind-blowing

You can put this on anything iOS/Android powered with a controller attached, just FYI.

I am hoping that if M2 is going to port Sonic 2 for this second wave of 3D Classics they will somehow incorporate this Hidden Palace stuff.

if they port these to PC, I hope they fix the thing from CD where the game's logic is tied to your refresh rate (which I guess is technically accurate, but still)

I know, my wording was off; I was talking about the PC port of CD, wherein if you are running a monitor with a refresh rate over 60 hz, apparently the game scales in speed. as it is, I've got it for the 360 and it's a solid port-thing

yeah, i really want this on pc, or maybe even on vita

though i also want a 3d version badly — in widescreen, hopefully, unlike 3d sonic 1

just imagine widescreen 3d chemical plant zone

I started That Other Thread because I was pretty jazzed about this, but then I realized Hidden Palace's music was Mystic Cave 2P and not sound test $10 and poof, my enthusiasm evaporated, that was non-negotiable

With the hidden secret of the Hidden Palace, Eggman can harness all the power of a vuvuzela

given what a project the sonic 3d port was it seems a bit unlikely to get something like this as a 3ds port

I'd like it on PC tho

Sound Test 10 is still accessible in-game via the Sound Test. I think choosing Mystic Caves 2P was a better choice. Yeah it doesn't sound eerie and awe-inspiring as that song, but Sound Test 10 gets tiring really really fast.

Also, the beta tape version of it hints that the song would be played in some sort of short sequence instead of being a full-level song, considering it is the only song that does not loop and has an "end" to it. Considering that the Hidden Palace beta used Mystic Caves 2P as its song too, it's very possible that the song might've been intended to be for Hidden Palace maybe, and 10 for a specific part of it.

The Debug Mode for Sonic 1 and 2 mobile are REALLY crazy. Tons of early beta stuff remade and fully working for every level. Things like the rolling ball from Green Hill, UFOs from Marble, snail badnik from Emerald Hill Zone, Bubbler from Oil Ocean (but also accessible on Chemical Plant), etc.

Based on the two threads I got these and they are really nice. The touch controls work about as well as touch controls could, but these games are just too difficult for that. I would love to have these on my vita

I figured out how to prevent myself from losing lives and endlessly retry special stages, so try became a little bit easier. What kind of extras can they put into 3? Michael Jackson as a playable character?

I can think of a few features, though I guess some of them aren't very realistic

- bugfixes because dang there's a lot of bugs
- mini-boss and boss rush
- get Knuckles in Death Egg somehow and make him have his own routes
- Sonic & Knuckles remastered soundtrack in the game (maybe they could even get Naofumi Hataya and another cool SEGA composer to do Sonic 3 tunes remastered)
- Sonic 3 PC tunes using Genesis' FM synths
- new special stages and new Blue Spheres mode with new ways of coming up with new mazes based on these new special stages?
- maybe even a Blue Sphere Maze Creator tool?
- some way of choosing or predicting which Bonus Stage you're going to get when you light up a checkpoint
- I usually don't really like savestates but they'd be very much appreciated in a mobile version of S3K considering how labyrinthic a lot of the levels in it are
- Some slight level design tweaking in a few parts
- Time Attack and slightly redesigned levels to fit Time Attack mode (no cutscenes, make levels a bit more straightforward on Time Attack mode, blocking way to things like hidden giant ring rooms for instance)
- A way to disable Time Overs like in Sonic Jam because it's almost impossible clearing Carnival Night 2 and Death Egg 2 without getting a Time Over
- 2P race in a few regular levels like Sonic 2 iOS/Android has
- a few extra acts for a few levels would be cool, just to see what kind of cool level design they could whip up using a certain zone's assets and gimmicks and stuff

This is a pretty neat "enhanced" Sonic 3K that has some of the things you guys are asking for and I would hope they'd take partial cue from it (there are kind of too many options for a commercial release maybe)

Oh man awesome.

they didn't just delete Knuckles' Sandopolis stage entirely though? Because I remember it being awful.
