magfest is a thing that has been happening for twelve consecutive years
maybe you've heard of it
it's a festival, not a convention
it's in national harbor, md
there will be music, panels, games, and hopefully a few or one thousand+ good times
everybody i tried to coerce into going with me has backed out due to trivial reasons like work, family in for the holidays, etc. so i will attending the fest alone, and rooming with strangers i found on the facebook group
probably from thursday until sunday
if you're going, and don't mind someone awkwardly hanging around with you, it'd be cool to do one of those Meet-Up things

| I'm going with a bunch of friends. There's going to be a candy cab loaded with a 6 game multi-JAMMA fully stocked with puzzle games. If you see a dude tearing the shit out of some Tetris don't be shy to say hello. |

Whoa, I could go to this.
National Harbor sucks!
But I have baby and we are moving this month so I probably won't be able to. :( _________________ Let's Play, starring me. |

Yo friends, come by the Tales of Game's booth! We are doing some last minute work at home (we live nearby so it's cool) but we'll be there tomorrow again doing our thing.
Really just come by and say hello. We are in the "indie game area" or whatever in the big room, in the INSIDE LEFT CORNER, from the entrance to the room. If you see that big stage with the Robotron machines, we are right behind you! Our booth is huge and gaudy (yet extremely rickety) and you will be unable to miss it. |

I actually just realized I live 30 minutes away from Magfest. Bort and co were making it sound very tempting on IRC the other day but I wouldn't be able to make it on Friday or Saturday. Would it be worth coming to on Sunday only? They have a $20 pass for Sunday.
Bort will your guys' booth still be around Sunday? |

| oh yeah for sure. and announce yourself and we will give you the wizard hookup. or try to squeeze you in. we were just setting up today and there is wizard froth already building... honestly the concerts and stuff don't seem as cool as they were last year (yuzo koshiro rave, he opened with "fillmore," and the protomen). but the arcade is pretty humongous. although i am an arcade neophyte. like, i played space war last year! and discs of tron! i like any game where you control with a dial. but yeah, i definitely think it's worth it for $20, but of course it depends on your personal value of a 20. |

| I met end of the world yesterday. A cool chap, even cooler than his very cool glasses. Not what I was expecting... Not that I expected anything in particular. Chef won a Vita in a drinking/videogaming contest. I played Bosconian (thanks for the tip SB) and a little J.S. Joust. Shit, someone is entering the wizards booth as we speak. adios.... |

| Dang, looks like closing ceremonies are at 1pm tomorrow. I'm not sure I'll be able to get there early enough to make the admission fee worth it. |

we met colour thief for a few minutes! seemed like a cool dude but i was too busy to chat toooo much unfortunately.
oh yeah i got an invitation to vape with jon st john, which ended up being smoking half a blunt with some young barkleyfans. i could complain about missed expectations but boy did i need it.
and i played ESP Ra. De. which was really, really fun. some guy gave me lots of pointers and i got a lot better at it during my three attempts. although i didn't ever use the force field. i am sometimes reluctant to use bombs and stuff in shooters 'cause i always feel i am wasting them. sorta the same thing here, i think. but anyway, i got sort of ok! it's something i'll be looking into more in the future. |

I was there from Friday through to about 1pm on Sunday. If you saw a black and purple catgirl chillin' over by the Wedoca cabs (had the shmups and fighting games in two back-to-back rows) on Saturday night, that was me.
I ended up playing quite a bit of Ikaruga while there (did at least 2 SCC runs to boot). _________________ "Amidst utter chaos lies strict order."
