the Super Metroid race was amazing if only for the visible difference between 1st and 2nd place being demonstrated by their credit rolls being 10-20 pixels apart. they must have finished something like a quarter of a second (or less!) apart from each other

oh no I like Pac-man 2 but the speedrun was not a speedrun at all and it was just watching a bad let's play of pac-man 2. They actually went overtime because they wanted to show off all the interactions you could have with pacman.

It was just boring.

this was a donation incentive iirc, so blame cancer

still in fucking awe of the blindfold Super Punch-Out (guy gets a frame perfect counter blindfolded) and GX runs

Watching one-handed SM64 runs makes me realize how terrible I am at videogames.

Because I said so, here's the Super Metroid race.

Gameplay starts at about the 15 minute mark.

EDIT: I can't seem to get an embed working. :/

Metroid Prime speedrun with live commentary by one of the lead developers!

it ain't just any lead developer that man is david kirsch! a true OG in the sf2 world. this guy comes from way back when seth killian and the cannon brothers spent their time flaming each other on usenet.

kirsch also INVENTED capture the flag at id soft. a true legend!

i wish those players would have nagged him for stories and silly reflections of the old days! a true legend and all they wanted to discuss were their scripted strats :(

Runners could barely hear him, based setup people putting the speakers four rows back

i see. since you were at the event would it possible to get one question answered?

how did they set up the super metroid speedrun to have 4 players (consoles) on one stream. i use a cheap dazzle for capturing pre-HD games and i now there's better options out there.

just for some reason getting good gear for it is something other streamers don't like talking about.

Zallard1 is analyzing his blind Super Punch-Out run right now. It should be up in his video history later if you want to see this.
