AAA videogames are so deeply weird

The violence is in a similar spot. The people are real looking enough that when they die like T-rated shooter characters it feels really weird.

I'm still going to play it.

In all fairness can you say he's wrong?

Nah, that game looks awful. The 4-player only bit is about the only interesting thing about it, but it doesn't look like it does anything with that.

Also, it's pretty hilarious that Dave Cage characters have graduated to just yelling out every thought that enters their head.

Persona 5 looks cool but I'm ugghing superheroes at this point.

Warhammer: Ratmn looks interesting, Fatshark has a decent first-person brawler history, although they did do one of the Dead Islands.

I will buy both games regardless so

I'm surprised how interested I am in FF15, though. I want to drive around in a car and fight dumb battle systems

that trailer looks great and all but the dumb reptilian part of my brain is just going "but it's a JRPG, I don't like those" and then I shoot virtual people and feel better

Well good

I'm sure someone will say the words 'Dark Souls' and we'll all roll our eyes and move on, but I'm super hype for this:

It looks more like Castlevania anyways ok

Oh jeeze, I didn't know this was something that might not happen. EDF is like 50% of the reason I bought my PS4, and when it comes out I am buying a second controller with the game.

This last guardian trailer is the most video-game character logic. What the heck is this kid breaking stuff and almost dying for? Why would person do that?

+1 No idea why the sequence of events would baffle anyone, even when it's a fragmented show-off vid. If that baffles you, then I wonder what goes on in your head when you watch five minutes of Mr. Invincible Boy kill a billion demons without throwing up, hyperventilating, suffering a mental breakdown, or even commenting on the situation. Now that's some "videogame character logic."

That's hardly the same thing, Mr. Boy kills a billion deamons because they're tying to kill him. I didn't catch that the dog was scared of whatever, and it really looked like the kid just decided to push a bunch of shit into a bottomless pit and nearly died for his trouble.

A video game character would push that shit over the edge, dog or no dog.

If you want to separate this into fine gradients, sure, but they both broadly fit into videogame character logic, and I think it's really weird to call this bit of footage out when it's uninformed by a larger context yet still obviously explicated by the general idea that this boy is trying to protect the animal and make his way through the environment, that the animal has a hostile and/or frightened reaction to that object, and how the theme of navigating treacherous terrain with a companion has a precedent in SotC and Ico which both narratively justify it.

I don't remember Shadow of the Colossus having level designs this dumb, it stood out.

I don't know. Maybe it is actually a personal shortcoming to be unable to accept abstraction in a video game.

Still, I watched the video again and, man, I already played Papa and Yo. I hated it.

Truth. So charming and with small, subtle hints of a weirdly profound story underneath the facial plot.

I even liked the one afterwards with Nathan Drake where you couldn't die. Same "there's more here than meets the eye" plotting.

Yeah? Yeah??? I even liked The Forgotten Sands which no one even remembers existed.

And I only remember because I sometimes think about the third one and then get confused because the cloth looks too good to be GameCube.
