In short, if you want to play Gundam online you have to redeem an online pass on a Japanese PSN account. You cannot play online on an account that has not redeemed an online pass. But Namco is doing this to stop skilled players from making new accounts and playing against low-ranked players! It's for your benefit! It is all for you Damien!
There are also two free DLC units on day one but they're intended as introductory units for new players. The game comes out at the end of the month. |

| There was another zinger in how they say the vision of the PS3 port was to give us the complete version of Full Boost from the arcade but then go on to say they understand we'd like the custom gauges and operators so those are going to be sold as DLC. But someone in that thread mentioned operators may have cost real money in the arcade version as well so I left it out. At least NacmoBandai is throwing us a bone and making the Haro operator free! |

That definitive talk is extra rich considering Maxi Boost is coming to arcades in March.
Anyway, I better be able to redeem this on my NA account because that's the one I have my 100% Platinum EXVS data. Bragging rights! |

You almost certainly can't. Online passes are usually implemented as DLC you download from a PSN store, and that means it'll only be on the JPSN shop if you buy a Japanese copy.
Wish I'd remembered to grab a 10,000en PSN card on my way out of the country...

My copy's in the mail, might have to make a new JP account because my current one has a really dumb name.
EDIT: I JUST FIXED THIS! JP account is now GROBDA-Type11.
