There was a brief mention of the La Mulana 2 Kickstarter in the La Mulana thread, but I think it needs its own thread. 10 days in it's only 75% funded, which is TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE!!

Come on, you guys. La Mulana. TWO.

They've been doing a good job of keeping a steady stream of updates, and gotten some cool "celebrity cameos" like Keiji Inafune.

On the downside, their reward levels are a little wonky; I've pledged $100 because I loved La Mulana 1 so much, but I'm not really interested in any of the $100-level rewards except the forum and alpha access, both of which I could just get for $40. I'd really like a t-shirt and/or to be a skeleton, but not for $500.

So! Let's talk about the Kickstarter! And maybe after the Kickstarter we can talk about the development here, and the alpha when it comes out, and then the full game!

I'm pretty stoked. I think I hated the original La Mulana as often as I loved it, but it was a genuinely huge and interesting place with an amazing soundtrack and I'm really glad that this is being made. Especially since it looks like they're at least trying to match the scope of the original. The feeling of being out of my depth was great in the original, so at the very least I'm looking forward to delving in and just getting completely lost/immersed in the first few zones again.

(The kickstarter inspired me to finally make a proper attempt at the remake, which I'm playing through at the moment - more than once I've thrown my hands in the air and looked at a guide online, only to realise that I looked at a guide online for exactly the same puzzle in the original version. I keep waffling between the desire to triple my pledge and to cancel it entirely.)

OK, I watched a bit of a stream of this last night and someone needs to contact the composer and tell them that ~MAXIMUM BLOODYHEAT BATTLE~ music doesn't work as an environmental theme, especially when the environment is a cute crypt-like labyrinth, and especially when you'll be hearing the track loop a lot. Had to turn the sound off after a few minutes, to be honest.

The rest of the game looks like a lot of fun!

the demo feels very much like la mulana pt 2, and that's a good thing. I'm pleased that I've managed to make a decent amount of progress on my own, which I sure wasn't able to in the original.

The song in the demo is a remixed version of a song from the original game used for a placeholder. The whole demo is a placeholder actually! According to Naramura the full game will have different sizes of things and smoother animations due to engine changes. h y p e

KS finished with just enough to add the in-game monster guide, but not enough for Hell Temple 2.0.

I'm happy that it made it, but kinda sad that it didn't do better. Maybe this is just an off season for Kickstarters, although with how long it took La Mulana 1 to get through Greenlight I kinda suspect that the world is just a terrible place that doesn't appreciate Mulanas like they should.
