why does EDF cost $50

I was full-trottle for this until I saw that price tag. I know saying that sounds dumb, but isn't the whole appeal of EDF supposed to be that it's an unpolished a joke budget game that's about enough fun to last as long as a large pizza?

considering that i have put in about 300 hours with 2017, nope.

50 bucks is cheap for EDF for me.

And yeah, lots of slowdown. it is EDF, and the slowdown is delicious.

but don't worry, it will tank and you can get your cheap copy soon.

to be honest I'm actually a little less inclined to play this after I got into Verdict Day by surprise since I don't need that many tank-controlling third person shooters in my life and that one was so good

if you are driving a tank in EDF, you are usually doing it wrong.

Game runs really poorly in local coop on 360. Pretty disappointed by this. I don't think it's ever hitting 30 frames and it's consistently dipping to the ~15 range.

Man did people just not play 2017 or any of the Sandlot EDFs before? This kind of performance is pretty normal for their games actually. Really the only minor thing i have noticed so far as a negative performance-wise here (compared to other sandlot EDFs) are the load times, which aren't super bad, just not great (on PS3). Like it's been really funny in reviews to see everyone try to establish their EDF bonafides, and then complain about the framerate like they somehow never noticed it in the past. I get wanting things to improve, yeah, but Sandlot has shown nothing but signs that it gives zero fucks about framerate.

There are some neat-o improvements actually here. Bodies that fall apart, but still fly around with great doofus-y EDFysics (you can have that one, Sandlot, we cool), Ragdolls actually do some things to your dudes. The awesome "ants grab you and chew on you" attack, the best counter being when I was a Fencer and was grabbed, so i drove a spear through an ant's head because fuck you ant. The classes actually being interesting (Air Raider is pretty great. a pure support class? in EDF? what?). Animations actually existing for things like jumping (seriously, the soldier is actually animated as a whole body now, not clearly separate lower and upper halves). THE GODDAMN FENCER.

SO YEAH SUPER PUMPED STILL.

The Air Raider reloads based on team kills too, so that is good.

But yeah, that is a good summary of what happens once you hit high-hard difficulty, or hardest and inferno. and it is lovely.

I never had this much trouble in EDF2, 2017, or 2017 Portable. Those had decent framerates until you got lots of enemies or lots of explosions. In 2025 there can be no enemies on screen but when I let go of my stick my aiming reticle will keep moving. It's making playing the game on a basic level somewhat difficult since I can't even aim right.

are you playing on the PS3? the game might have the "oversensitive ps3 stick" problem that plagues Skate 3. or if you are using the Fencer with his weird aiming. I dunno. For me, the framerate has been largely what i was used to in 2017, so i am OK. it does oddly seem to not be correlated to the number of enemies, but more the distance or something? I am not sure. I will think about it when i play it again.

And yes, the Wing Diver is amazing. I'm so happy about this game right now.

Man, I was playing local co-op last week, and at least on Hardest/Inferno, it was pretty bad.

I dunno, for some reason EDF framerates just don't bother me.

Brotip: Grinding level 2 on higher difficulties for a bit is a nice early armament booster.

Alright, so hell yes this game.

I've been playing Wing Diver a lot, which is just all sorts of fun. I'm getting really good at keeping myself out of harms way, and then surviving when I shouldn't, which is one of the feelings EDF does really well.

My friend has been playing offline with me as the Fencer, and he started, originally as a joke, dual wielding the Dynamo Blades, which look like giant bowie knives.

Wheich meant one fight had a point in it where he was holding off, in hand to hand combat, a whole goddamn wave of red ants who were right in his face, as I flew over them and thinned them out for him. This kind of teamwork....oh man. So many <3 for EDF. SO MANY.

The original was a simple 2000 game. They've obviously expanded a lot since then. I mean, the last 2 that came out in America were both 40 dollars on launch so um, ugh, whatever, I give up.

Load times for me hover around 30-40 seconds, which yeah, not great, but especially at the higher difficulty/later missions, the missions take long enough that it won't be a problem really.

Yes, we need to do this soon.

It's weird that the girl's jet energy bar goes up faster if it overheats than regularly so it's tactically more viable to be in a really bad situation for a few seconds?

The game anticipates this, which is one of the reasons Inferno ants move so much faster/do so much more damage. That downtime will probably be enough to get you killed if you aren't really far away from the bugs when it happens.

Also most of her weapons suck. I've been stickin with LAZR and some energy ball grenade launcher. LAZR has a huge magazine very small energy usage and just constant damage. It destroy pretty much any small enemy in a few seconds. I want a very version of that but that means playing on harder difficulties :0 .

Man, get yourself the Laser Chainsaw from grinding a little on higher difficulties. that thing is viable all the way up to Inferno no problem. And a beast. Some of the Pulse Throwers or whatever are also super awesome, though massively deadly to the user. You are gonna have to learn to dance with the varying difficulties a lot with her. It helps a lot though.

Also this game has humor where IA was humorless. I did a little scream when I found out it has Lost Planet 2 gestures.

WAIT WHAT HOW

Also, yeah, IA sucked. 2025 rules.

oh yeah, there are like 3 songs i have heard in the game, and they all rule.

really, there is so much in the VA stuff that is great. the EDF chief dude is really funny, one mission taking like half the mission to think of a name for a bad guy, the next just seeing a guy and right away naming that enemy the Deroy. With a D. For no reason.

I think a couple of the Rangers might be dating each other, as the one dude keeps asking the other dude out to dinner, and sometimes they talk about going to "that place from last night" and such. The Wing Divers point out how silly not wearing armor is. The Fencers are super pumped about being tough as hell.

I love this game.

Oh yeah, the AI has no idea about what to do playing as basically anyone other than the Ranger. It's pretty hilarious. But yeah, Fencers are the most Armored Core things in this game, and that rules.

I still have only barely touched the air raider.
