Good morning!

Um, I haven't been around for a while. I've been busy with stuff, but lately I've been working on game related stuff and I figured it was time to share it with you.

I'm updating my pixel art book, doing the whole thing myself, so that all errors will at least be the result of incompetence instead of ignorance like last time with all the publishers and editors and other people.

Most of the text is being overhauled, with probably 60-80% new content, and I'm adding things I missed the first time, games that have been released since then, etc.

New sprite histories that have been posted on my site are in there, with fancy layouts and even more content than ever before. I've got over 35 pages complete so far, with a bunch of example images at that link above.

I've got lots more planned, genre histories (500+ shooter sprites!), overviews of styles like isometric graphics, a four page spread of R-Type's first level, that sort of thing.

And I'm looking into producing a book that doesn't sell on Amazon for $7k like the last one. Maybe a magazine format, maybe a square bound book, but definitely glossy pages filled top to bottom with pixels.

Pixels, man. I love 'em.

Yeah, that's the one. It's probably your stuff that justifies the Amazon price, 'cause it sure as shit ain't mine. =)

Update!

1. The old book hit a whopping $8,300 before falling back to $3,500. It's currently $5,400 or so on Amazon.

2. A page on sprite flipping has been completed.

3. 5 pages on pre-rendered and digitized graphics has been completed.

Price-watch: the old book is $10,250 on Amazon right now. Bahahahaha, what a weird world.

New book update: eight pages on Assault Suits, Metal Warriors and Gun Hazard are complete. I think I'm ready to seriously consider a kickstarter now...
