Interesting abstraction. Yeah it was hard to tell what was going on in those screenshots before you explained. It's nice to see highly abstracted battle mechanics move beyond the ossified "D&D party" and "deck of magic cards" concepts.
It reminds me of a popular arcade game I saw people playing when I visited Japan a few months ago, Lord of Vermilion III. That's a deckbuilding game with realtime gameplay; players were moving their (physical) cards around rapidly on a surface and there was all this complex activity going on on a screen above them. I had no idea what was happening but it looked like a good game anyway.
Has this been cloned outside of Japan yet? Seems like an obvious money-making opportunity to try to reproduce the hit. |
