|

Last year, FF Versus 13 was still m.i.a - if you leave the trailers put out every now and then aside. Have been almost 10 years now since it was announced that this would come out - soon(ish). But! Surprisingly, SQEX decided to do the sensible(?) thing and slapped an XV onto the title after "Final Fantasy", and will bring it out after skipping the whole PS3-era … but this time for sure, yeah? Well, that remains to be seen.
Until then, I recommend watching this collection of Versus-trailer-bits - but take note that this will take about 26 minutes.
It's interesting to see that development of this game obviously stalled at some point, and long enough for the tech to leap ahead of the dev team more than once … it's not just the polycount of the characters that increased by a margin (or - and I love this bit - that they radically changed the design of the vehicle that snobbish boy #1 is being driven around in, from a Maybach-inspired luxury sedan to a dusenberg-bugatti-ish retro four door coupe), the UI got revamped at least twice, cutscenes re-rendered, and who knows what else they binned or remade from scratch. Watch the gameplay bits shown from 17'28 onwards, it'll be interesting to see what/if anything survived the development limbo that this game seems to have been in.
And for what it's worth, the running-down-the-facade-and-killing-soldiers bit is still in the game. I, for one, am anticipating the release of this since I've seen the second to last trailer (feels like years ago, eh…)
Maybe someone else can share some insight and/or trivia about this game, maybe even from the last decade? _________________

Oh if only this could become Final Fantasy Forever and then be bought, finished and released by [Atlus/Nippon Ichi/Mistwalker/...]
It's not like I'm excited for this game but I do want to know what will become of it and I'll certainly watch the spoony one's angry video review of it, when the time has come. Maybe FFXIV will remain the most FF of all recent FFs and this will become the new FF. |

So did that website by the disgruntled writer who felt that SQEX stole his/her story for Versus and turned it into XIII's story ever get verified? _________________

| I've been excited for this since the first trailer----and remain excited. With the one caveat that hopefully the gameplay in the recent trailers actually requires real input from the player, not just some contextual prompts or something. |

i hope some of that fantasy fighting in the middle of a japanese city at night stuff survived, cause it looked cool. i can't imagine the final product of this being anything but a hot mess though.

| It could become the FF7 of a new generation. It certainly looks enough like That Hot New Shit that the kids are going to love |
