It looks like Nintendo will be requiring permission for you to play their games on Youtube so they can share the revenue. Hopefully this only effects people who want to make money off their videos. It would suck if this eventually meant people couldn't speedrun emulated Nintendo games on Twitch or had to follow some weird code of conduct to play Mario Party or whatever

this is only conjecture but

the same as any other tech company, user data?

amazon tends to leave the web companies they acquire a more alone than google except to get the data

like direct access to twitch user engagement metrics could be valuable to a company that sells and now designs videogames

so like firstly, stronger marketing for twitch popular games in the amazon games section, maybe an affiliate program for streamers, also amazon could try to give you specific game sales recommendations based on your twitch accounts viewing pattern

plus if you use the same email/internet cookies on both sites it will give them a new metrics about the venn diagram for who buys toilet paper online or watches softcore porn on amazon prime and also likes to watch 20 hours of minecraft vids or whatever and that's valuable info to sell to marketers

and can you imagine how ridiculously valuable it will be to know who sees a twitch stream and then buys the game on amazon right after that

streamers who are good at selling games will get better treatment, higher placement etc and amazon will probably be creating it's own original twitch streams tailor made to sell the most games

plus

just like amazon (and netflix and even buzzfeed) are reverse engineering original tv shows now based on what users are searching for or the weird tvtropes atomic elements of the most popular shows

like you could apply the same things to making games. people are already designing games to be more stream-popular

so amazon game studios will probably have a group dedicated to making twitch friendly games

and seeing those exclusive games (which will probably get a higher position than they would otherwise) being streamed through a twitch app on the fire tv game console is also advertisement for fire tv itself

and probably other things that people smarter than me thought of

Amazon is way, way worse than Google IMO in terms of human costs but kind of maybe less bad in this instance in terms of tech politics
