I think it's more that they have a varied spread of developers from the AAA to the small indie studios.

Feel free to correct me but I don't think there a single new property announced at any of these conferences so far. It was either followups on things we already knew, or sequels, spiritual or otherwise, some people wanted and some didn't.

and, Dracko, when it's not a sequel it's a property invented to round out a publisher or platform holder's 'software portfolio', like shuffling out another DOTA-like that is completely indistinguishable from any of the other DOTA-likes.

Hey guys, the Dead Rising 3 DLC is one of the best DLC add-ons I've ever played, no joke. Just took a break after a couple hours of having lots of fun with it. Not sure it would be as great for people without a love for 90s/early 00s Capcom and the ridiculous amount of references they pack in there, but I'm pretty damn pleased with it. It's not "go buy an Xbox" good or anything, but if you have the game and any fondness for the Capcom of 10-20 years ago, it's totally worth the $9.99. It really does feel like Dead Rising gameplay in timed arcade-style action levels. The different unlockable "costumes" are basically new characters with a set of 4 different moves each that all seem to have their unique feel. Only negative: I don't think there's local co-op, and the game would be perfect for it if you actually have friends physically present to play it with you.

Other than that... Sony conference mostly bored me out of my mind (except for Bloodborne), I was a lot more impressed with Microsoft's focus on games and a decent amount of new stuff (that Ori game looked really nice, I'm interested in Crackdown and Phantom Dust). Definitely wait and see on both the new Platinum and Grasshopper games.

One trend I dislike: games that rely too much on user generated content. Fable Legends, Project Spark, LBP3... possibly the rumored Mario Maker tomorrow. I guess they're all after the Minecraft kids. I don't play Mario games to wade through thousands of mediocre user created levels, I play them for the top of the line Nintendo-created level design.

- 2) guns
- 3) jungles
- 4) characters who were in every other game in the series
- 5) dialogue not written by Amy Hennig
