What is this feeling of wanting to own a Nintendo console, help. It probably makes more sense to get a WiiU now, wait until the PS4/XBone reaches the inevitable 3-year price cut and has actual games to play, and then join next-next-next-gen.

and you're right, no one has really taken over Smash the way that Sega perfectly arguably has w/ Kart. I was thinking mostly of the big Brawl rebalancing effort that's available to me via emulation, but I may need to concede that this new one actually does look that dang good. let me say this, I dig the fuck out of what Nintendo is doing/did instead of a presser. Sony has been moving in the same direction as well. I want less game journalists giving impressions based off ten minutes and more devs and staff shooting the shit for hours and actually showing off the game.

agreed. I probably would have not been as interested in Splatoon if i didn't watch people mess around with the game on the Treehouse stream, which made rewatching the trailer all the more fun.

i was plenty happy with my Wii U, but now i'm even happier that i'll have some SB friends to play games with.

The new Xenoblade was just demoed and the 3DS Fire Emblem is still pretty popular so those seem like pretty reasoned choices. The Chorus Men strike me more of an Assist Trophy.

I would've figured they'd throw Bayonetta in there due to the Wii U game, but i wouldn't be surprised if she ends up being an alternate Zero Suit Samus costume.

Pac-Man always made sense to me considering this game is also a Namco Bandai production, and also he was in that arcade Mario Kart. The only real dumb fanboy one i was hoping for (that wasn't Mega Man) was Bomberman.

Nintendo is right now announcing another new intellectual property called Codename: S.T.E.A.M. that is a steampunk/lovecraftian/anime turn based strategy game in the vein of xcom and valkyria chronicles. Being made by intelligent systems/shigeru miyamoto and the more details that come out the crazier it sounds

I played Senran Kagura cooking and Akiba's Trip!

Cooking game is a simple rhythm game with really amusingly dumb cutscenes playing in the background. It's two animated waifus going at their ingredients iron chef style and then serving it to a judge who has the same canned reaction of his mouth exploding with flavor as a percentage of how well you did flashes on the bottom. Depending on who does better, either you or your opponent's clothes explode off and it continues into the next round of cooking/rhythm. After 3 rounds, you win/lose but your clothes can never explode off more than 2 times and instead just recycles the animation of your clothes blowing off except no clothes blow up, just boob and butt jiggle. Also, the girls will always at least be wearing underwear even if you explode their other clothes off.

Entertaining as a spectacle but I don't know how it could have much depth as a game to purchase. The songs weren't really anything to get excited about.


Akiba's Trip has a surprisingly accurate recreation of Akiba in it! I spent 15 minutes just walking around looking at the city thinking, "OH DUDE I WENT THERE" and wondering if that other place was there too AND THEN IT WAS. Also you can visit Gamers and inside the worker is Dejiko! I was pretty happy about that. Dunno about the gameplay because I didn't even try any of that.


So what I'm trying to say is Yakuza does everything these two games were trying to do better.

Some Bloodborne footage. Unsure in what way this isn't a Souls game. Nervous that it's going to be more of a Triple-A Blockbuster (yes I know the Souls games are in the triple-A popularity sphere, but it's not like it's Uncharted) "streamlined" thing that cuts out core features like character customization, organic multiplayer, covenants, etc in favor of a more focused experience that's the linear tale of Some Specific Dude.
