this is an interactive fiction thread.

i did a search, promise.

SO i've have a pattern of putting off masterful, complex archetypes of a genre and first slogging through their more simplistic, philistine counterparts. it give some kind of comfort, i don't know.

years ago i played around with the "choice of" games and had lots of queer romps with pirates and whatnot. recently, on a buffy kick, i found on a whim that the google play store had a mobile version of "CHOICE OF VAMPIRE" and had a blast letting the game tell me what to do and be immersed in the meticulously historical environment. i even paid for the extremely inadequate sequel because i just wanted to run around as a 19th century vampire some more.

now i'm craving more, both of this easy-breezy point-and-click genre that 'choice of' kind of pioneered, as well as the more challenging, open-ended interactive fictionz out there. reviews yield mixed results, though i've logged a few that seem to be classic by popular consensus. but i need the opinions of the rest of the SB revenants before i play anything else...

so...what're your thoughts, cybernauts?

also i guess you could reminisce about IF and why it's great and stuff.

Traditional parser-based IF that's still simplified and more or less works around the clunkiness of a parse based interface:

* Adam Cadre's Photopia
* Andrew Plotkin's Shade
* Sam Barlow's Aisle
