so, last week, the humble wekly bundle was a bunch of japanese games, and the chance to get ys origins for almost nothing was too good to pass up, so i got it. also in there was a little roguelike called "one way heroics".

the "one way" refers to the fact that that as you play, the world is being consumed by an evil shadow that travels from left to right. to save the world, the player has to find and kill the demon lord.

after you kill the demon lord, or after dying your self, your performance on that run is evaluated, and you're given points, which can be used to buy new character classes and perks, and to expand the number of slots in your "dimensional vault", which allows the player to carry over items from playthrough to playthrough.

i'm really loving this game, and i haven't seen it mentioned here, but has anyone else played it?

I have! It's a neat little jam. Kind of like a cross between a rogue-like and...Half-Minute Hero? An arcade rogue-like, I guess?

The time limitation/constant need to move forward gives it a good pace. There's stuff to find if you explore vertically - chests, weapons, towns etc. - but you always need to leave enough space so you can push forward. Not to mention most chests need to be beaten to shit before they open! Some nice risk-reward stuff going on here.

I started playing this yesterday and fell in love with it. This would be my train game for the next weeks if it was mobile.
