I'm genuinely curious: are there any games that handle rape in a tasteful or, idk, "artful" manner?
Does it amount to anything in Silent Hill 2 (I've never played it)?
Killer 7 implies that Emir's mother sexually abused him. Does that fall in line with what 1CC is talking about? |

Who said this?
As an aside, I must be some kind of weirdo since I pretty much never seek out or desire the sort of sex appeal Bayonetta has in anything I'm not specifically picking up to get off to and set aside. I probably masturbate about 900 times a year, so it's no lack of sex drive so much a literal inability to understand what sexyness adds to a video game, movie, etc. that isn't just porn. These things can be used thematically, sure, but in the case of Bayonetta I don't get what said theme is other than "sexy". I just thought that sort of thing was bizarre before I ever understood how it could be problematic and that former feeling is still intact at 25. I feel the same sense of other worldliness when people talk about how they never play male characters because they'd rather look at a sexy lady than some dude all game long. How fucked do you have to be to think looking at a male character in Dark Souls is "gay"? I have a more Platonic fascination with the male form, though, so iuno. Probably just a weirdo. |

| The way you structured that sentence I thought you meant a positive critic proposed that Bayonetta was empowering by not taking the male gaze into consideration at all. I wasn't really trying to debate you or anything so much as wondering who would say that in the manner I thought you meant. |

This sounds like something CWC might say.
I hardly find stuff like Bayonetta offensive personally, but think this notion that someone who looks like a porn star getting naked while fighting monsters is somehow empowering to normal people is pretty absurd. I mean, body positivity by and large isn't really there for people with amazing bodies...
I know women who think the character is cool or hot or whatever, but not empowering. |

Sonichu guy. Perhaps that was uncalled for, but it is a sentiment I've seen him have, though taken to ridiculously gross degrees. |

So... I'm sure this will be used to make claims that Anita faked this and, of course, all the serious threats she's cited and I think that's kind of absurd since it's vague and doesn't really prove anything other than the authorities thinking students were safe (due to increased security or otherwise), but I'm just kind of wondering how people here feel about this in, like, any context. Does this shed any negative light on Anita or discredit her claims? Does her decision to cancel the talk despite elevated security measures taken on her behalf say anything about her? Is this seeming trivialization a failure on the part of the law? Is it indicative of anything problematic in how we handle these things on a broader level? Is it at all relevant or irrelevant? etc.
I'm genuinely not sure what to make of this or the dialogue that will inevitably follow. |

| yeah, I was actually thinking about it from that angle before I refreshed this page, especially given that they [deliberately?] chose not to elaborate on why the authorities said what they said in any real sense. |

I made a gamer gate video
NSFW
I wish it would go higher than 480p, but I think it's still readable. |

I must admit some of the image memes I've seen come out of this really amuse me:
I know who Zoe Quinn, Matt Lees, and Anita Sarkeesian are, but who's the woman furthest to the right? |
