Hey, all. I've begun transferring my posts from the blogspot version of Brick By Brick over to tumblr, which I feel will be a more attractive and relevant platform, even if the main way of interacting on tumblr is unfortunately passive. Figured a frontpage post here couldn't hurt, either! Youpi very generously did much of the layout for me in HTML after I gave him some direction based on the original site's look.

| Having been engaged with the Castlevania series since the early 2000s, and having written extensively on its titles (informally and formally), I felt it was time to start up a site that would serve as a home for future writings. This site was also born out of the perception that there is a lack of critical engagement of the series that balances strong mechanical/structural comprehension and a micro-focus on audio/visual design. |
The game I'm focusing on now is Super Castlevania 4.
P.S. You can view the original site by clicking on the link in my signature. |

| Thanks! I know the original page hasn't been touched in a while, but I'm working on the next update now. |

| Hey diplo, which is your favorite pre-32 bit Castlevania? |
So anything before... Rondo of Blood? Castlevania and the X68000 AkuDrac are probably the best technically designed ones, but I think I like 4 the most. I played - well, tried to play CV3 again, and I think it'd be a really strong contender for being one of the best stage-based Castlevanias if it were about 7 stages long, with the last couple stages incorporating the best parts of the game's later moments. |
