Which version of Nier (Gestalt) is the best, technically? The Xbox 360 version is the original, probably has anti-aliasing, and will output in VGA. The PlayStation 3 version is a port of the X360 version, probably isn't anti-aliased, but could have lossless audio.
But I could be wrong about this any of this (except for VGA output, of course). What say you, SelectButton? _________________ Get Xenoblade Chronicles!

| Unless I'm unaware of Nier: Gestalt being released on both systems, the PS3 version is Nier: Replicant and there is a key difference in the game's content, namely that the protagonist is older in the former. Thus the character that is his daughter in the 360 version is his sister in the PS3 version. |

Nah global markets got the Gestalt version on both systems.
Benren, the 360 version sounds like a better deal to you after your recent VGA expeditions. I doubt the audio is in noticably worse quality than on the PS3 version, which looks and runs fine btw. _________________

| Are you certain the PS3 has lossless audio? The PS3 can output LPCM but I assume in many cases that's just transcoded from whatever format is stored in the disc and I wouldn't be surprised if it's exactly the same as the 360 version (ADX). |

No, I'm not. I'm just presenting the bits of info others have posted on the web when I was searching for an answer. _________________ Get Xenoblade Chronicles!

360 version since it uses an in-game interface for saving your game which is of some narrative importance while the PS3 uses the lame system default one. _________________

if you're going off the LPCM thing, that's just how the PS3 can send audio to a receiver. odds are good that the only non-LPCM codec the game supports is DD, which the PS3 probably has to mix from anyway, so even if the assets were loseless, the mix isn't.
by this metric, every Wii U games has loseless audio as well since it only does 5.1 over LPCM _________________
