I've been looking for a good ios game for a while and, well, I've found it. This game is fantastic - game of the year for me. I even like the music, sort of.
While the game is controlled by just one button the level design combined with timing can lead to a surprising amount of variation, and new control ideas are gradually introduced every few levels. There can be awkward moments of getting stuck on a corner but generally the game is a joy to play.
Fuck I love this game, the way it combines the momentum of an endless runner with reasonably well designed levels that offer some (very light) puzzle solving and exploration, fuck! It's like flappy bird for platforming. This is what it's all about. This is gaming |

| Thanks for the recommendation. It is on android as well. I am enjoying the level design a lot. The levels are not as linear as you would expect. |

| i guess it looks ok if you're in the mood to play a GB era platformer. I would say it's as solid AND uninspired as flappy bird was. |

There are definitely rough spots. The points just add up, and by the third world the developer seems to have forgotten about them entirely. Also, earlier stages provide alternate routes, while later stages are a simple linear obstacle course.
I feel if that's what they were going for they should have used a timer a la elastomania.
But this doesn't detract from the fun of moving around too much. I think the movement and controls are inspired in a way, particularly the wall jumps.
I like tight controls on iPhone games. I've never completely gotten used to the touch screen. |

| The Rayman Jungle/Fiesta runner games on iOS are good, I think. This reminds me of them. They also feature sticky wall jumps and branching paths - could be worth checking out if you are in it for these. Real annoying music, though. |

| Yeah the Rayman games look fun, I'm sticking to Jack n' Jill for now though. Something about it makes it incredibly engaging. Also, I've found that branching paths and shortcuts do pop up again all over the place so I am stoked |

| I mean no offense, I just can't imagine a scenario in which I would play this sort of game. |

| Ok, so aesthetically I can dig it. But I guess I'm like too much of an old man to play a game with just a single button's worth of control. It is like simultaneously frustrating and boring. Sorry. I should delete these posts. I'm not contributing. |

| The appeal to me is that despite only having one button you can do some pretty nifty manoeuvres. I really want to see these controls applied to bigger, more open levels |

Yeah this is a wonderful game. The OG GameBoy aesthetic gives me the feels and the music is nice too.
I don't usually like these kinds of infinite runner type games, unless it's Canabalt, but this one has the added platforming challenge that increases the further along you get. Try getting all the pickups before completing each level. It's pretty hard! _________________

I'm up to World 4 and it's still introducing new gameplay hooks every world. The latest one is a set of wings that make you fly so the game does literally become flappy bird, only better because it will also give you the powerup potions occasionally so you can kill the enemies instead of just avoiding them.
Trying to power through World 4 so I can see what new thing gets introduced in World 5. _________________

Despite the clear Gameboy influence on its aesthetic, this game gives me weird nostalgia for Mac shareware circa early and kid 90s.
EDIT: I meant mid 90s, but kid 90s works well enough. _________________

World 5 introduces a new platform you stick to until you tap to jump off. Sometimes they move, sometimes they're stationary and sometimes they disappear on you!
World 5 also introduces checkpoints in each level though they're not always placed in the best spots. Basically a lot of levels have a checkpoint either too early or too late in the level, never really right in the middle where you would think it should go. I'm glad they're in there regardless because the stages get pretty challenging at this point.
Just made to World 6 and it just introduced boots with wings! Boots make you go fast and wings make you fly so this item makes you fly fast. _________________
