Man, that's almost too sneaky:
Figured this must mean he was in one of the Mother Base shooting ranges, the only missions that take place there. Problem was that he doesn't show up when playing as a MSF soldier and why wouldn't you when Snake isn't required? So I search them all but no dice. Then I checked around the starting mission areas and then finecombed the staff roster to see if he had somehow disguised himself as an MSF recruit (would been pretty cool actually). Only now thought that maybe Snake was required to find Steve Blum since all the others had locked you into using him.
I liked how the only difference between this and the last credits roll was that the timeline now listed the Outer Heaven Uprising and Miller's death.
Thanks, parker. Wish the Universal Hint System site was more popular. _________________

wasteland 2 is great, but pillars of eternity does look vaguely shitty.
It's like the first game Josh Sawyer directed by himself, and that's a pretty bad sign because Sawyer's kind of ridiculous. _________________

People seem to really like it though, so I'm looking forward to giving it a try. I haven't really liked anything Obsidian has done in a long while, however, so that does temper my enthusiasm a bit. _________________ PSN: TaipeiGamer |

I've seen some converters that let you use Saturn controllers with a Dreamcast, but I have seen any that let you use dreamcast controllers with a Saturn. Do they exist. Are these sort of controller controllers actually worthwhile or do they have a bunch of input lag? _________________

| Geez, why would you want to? For Bomberman? It'd cost the same or less to just buy some cheap controllers, surely. |

For arcade sticks actually. I've got a dreamcast stick with some modded Sanwa parts for fighting, and I'd like to get a second. Im also planning on modding some sticks with some seimitsu parts for shooting games. It would be nice if the two consoles could share and I didn't have to have four sticks for each. _________________

Well, my dad is a great woodworker, so I guess I may as well rip out some controller guts and get him to help me build a few from scratch. Is there a limit on how many different controller parts I can put in there. Of course I definitely want Saturn and Dreamcast functionality, but if I could get 360 and Playstation in there as well that would be great. _________________

If I'm hearing you correctly, you want each microswitch to connect to a different pad setup inside the stick and then have four cords coming out to different consoles? If that's the case, you might as well figure out a custom situation that outputs to variable controller converter. The optimal solution is a custom PCB that can connect to different controller PCBs that connect to the consoles themselves.
Ugh.
This is why I like emulation. |

| I bought a board from focus attack for making custom sticks that I think might be able to do that. I think it's called PS360-- its main claim is the ability to have a stick usable on ps3/x360/PC, but it also has a port for using custom breakout cables for legacy consoles. |

What's SB's general verdict on the Dead or Alive series? Which is the best one?
I've been playing the 3DS game a bit and I like how the gameplay doesn't hinge around convoluted, unintuitive control inputs like most tournament fighters. Also Team Ninja has some of the best 3D character animators in the industry, even post-Itagaki. _________________ Just another savage day on Planet Earth. |

DOA2 was the only fighting game I could get other people to play way back when, by sheer fact that it's easy to understand and feels good to pick up and play. The titillation factor can't be denied, either, though that's going to vary from person to person.
I still load up DOA5 when I want some enjoyable punch-times without having to memorize a move list or deal with hyper-competitive horseshit. _________________ HeavyViper@Twitter ~~~ HeavyViper@Soundcloud

DOA 2 Ultimate is probably the best one for my money. It hit the right balance between fleshed out and balanced gameplay (For DOA anyway) and luscious production values at the time. _________________

I may be committed to building my own sticks at this point, but my question about controller converters still stands because I have one Saturn twin stick and one dreamcast twin stick. _________________

As long as the converter is passive and is just rerouting a bunch of wires, is it even possible for it to generate input lag? The only real issue I could see a converter introduce is something like the analogue stick mapping 1:1. Speaking only from guesswork here though. _________________

I sort of always presumed those were solely for high level Counter Strike play. _________________ twitter tumblr

A friend has one, works great. What do you want to know about it? It's easy to transport and is great for fighting games. |

I've got a XL2420TE, an older model that's not made anymore. I like it, it's nice. I mostly got it because I use Nvidia GPUs and could take advantage of Lightboost (this makes it so the backlight strobes and gives smoother, more CRT-like motion while increasing input lag a tiny bit when your framerate meets your refresh rate). I've never really used it too much with consoles but it seemed legit, no apparent lag and decent looking (AFAIK, BenQ gaming displays are still TN panels and all the pros and cons they come with). I've loaded up Project Diva with no adjustment for display latency and played it fine a few times, played some Smash online with it and no problems.
if you need stuff to look fancy, you should be able to find a screen with an IPS panel and low input lag nowadays since that's the next avenue to push. _________________

| Does anyone here know if there's a difference between the ps3 and 360 versions of El Shaddai? I noticed a used copy for ps3 is 10$ but for 360 its 5$. |

I've gotten to the point of installing it without having played it yet.
I saw that dhex (late of IC and essbee.net) has been playing it on Steam, so Ima ask him for his take thus far. |

| I own both Memories of Celceta and The Oath in Felghana. Which one do you think has more of an "ys" type of feel? I am obviously interested in both but is it true that Celceta is structured like a monster hunter game? ie. taking quests from a "quest board" and killing monsters as opposed to playing a linear narrative. I guess a more succinct question is to ask whether Celceta plays like Ragnarok Odyssey/Toukiden or does it play like the early Ys games? |

Celceta has a steady narrative, and it's as "Ys" as Ys7 was. Streamlined, fast-paced action-RPG goodness. Each town has a quest board you can hit up for little side-quests that will get you money, weapons and assorted goodies.
Oath in Felghana was the second game they did in that particular style (pre-rendered sprites on 3D levels), the first being Ark of Napishtim. It's notably less stiff than AoN, and I'd say it's where the high-speed action gameplay of modern Ys games really started to shine. _________________ HeavyViper@Twitter ~~~ HeavyViper@Soundcloud

This post is about Pillars, btw. Talked to dhex last night, he said it was "89% hotness, 11% what the fuck were you thinking". Which is pretty good, he likes it more than BG2 with the caveat that he wasn't the biggest fan of BG2. |
