The closest I could think of was barticle's mahjong FAQs for the Yakuza games (FAQ for 4).

BC is smoother overall but I don't like what was done plot-wise. Some things were remixed/messed with, two characters were merged into one. Yeah, if I could do it over, I would prefer watching a Let's Play of the original. It was not fun but was worth seeing through to the end.
