I haven't even watched it because I am so tired of the Zombie trend.

AMC has a new show premiering on April 3rd called "The Killing". Its a whodunnit murder mystery show.

Zach Galifianakis is guest starring in an HBO pilot starring Brody Stevens, a very weird comic I can't help but love.

I have very high hopes for this considering how funny it was the last time they worked together: The Brody Stevens Interview Challenge.

I got a 3rd failed delivery notice today from UPS. I think it was Mad Men season 4 Blu-ray.

Hopefully they didn't IMMEDIATELY send it on its way back (like they usually do) so I might have a hope of getting it from them on Monday.

are you just starting the U.S. Version?---the first season is terrible. Season 2 makes huge strides within a couple of episodes and it becomes a pretty good show for a long time.

Season 1's a bit rough, and season 4 started to get boring so I quit watching, but 2 and 3 were great fun. The Office has a great cast, funny writers, and widespread appeal because it's about issues that most people who've worked in an office have dealt with. Previous workplace sitcoms were very specific and applied to jobs that few people had (Sports Night is about sports commentators, NewsRadio is about radio broadcasters, etc.), whereas The Office's office is so generic that it appeals to anyone with a white collar job. That's why it can be remade in a million different countries and still be popular.

Watched the killing last night. Seems alright. Don't like the main detective lady and I'm not looking forward to having to put up with her every episode. Also not fond of the "teenage underground world of sass, drugs, and crime, and sass". Probably wouldn't have pegged it as an AMC show if I didn't already know.

liked the office because it reminded me of being in college. Everyone I went to school with were hilarious sub humans. Every day I was amazed by how fucking weird everyone was. Then I'd have like one or two normal friends and we would just revel in how ridiculous our ollege experience was. It would be like if akon, the anime convention, WAS your school. Every day. For four years.

Maybe you are burnt out on the show I dunno, but if you think there's a chance you could pick it up again, you should give it a try.

The first half of season 4 was definitely weak, but the last half picks up and the finale was super funny.

I think Season 5 had some misses too, but less than S4. What I've seen of S6 has been all good.

it's a remake

I might make a more effort-post about the original later, I got through it in a couple of days last week.

Well this puts me in an awkward position. I can already tell you I'll like the original better. However, I want to be a good judge of this AMC remake. So, I want to wait until i've seen the entire remake before watching the likely-superior original. But that could be like... a long time from now. man.

Twin Peaks for a new generation? No, idiot. A murder mystery about a dead girl =/= twin peaks. That said, if they start throwing in awesome occult shit I'll eat my words.

I'll probably give season 5 a chance someday. Right now I'm enjoying Parks and Rec, which gets really good in the second season even though its first season was even worse than The Office's. I appreciate when shows have short first seasons (Seinfeld and Buffy did this too), because they're often crappy!

guys i just started watching Delocated last week or so

i think the premise is hilarious and some parts kind of remind me of arrested development in a weird way and i think the main character's total dickish character is pretty funny.

I watched The Killing the other day. It was fine, nothing to keep me from watching the whole thing. A pilot is a pilot, so hopefully the "real" has a few more things to show me.

But, if they could greenlight this show, I wonder why we couldn't get a slightly re-worked second season of Rubicon. Because dudes it was mostly good and The Killing wishes it could be Rubicon lite.

I'm pretty with you there.

I watched the first episode of Forbydelsen and it's already better if only in the regards that I can stand to look at the main character lady. Just saw a bit of dialogue in ep 3 (this weeks) that was in the first episode of forb. They butchered it so bad, I'm not sure why they even put it in.

Forbrydelsen is great, I started watching Season 2 last weekend. Lund is the best new tv detective I've seen this century. I doubt I'll watch the remake though.
Still working through Dexter, which I like mainly because I don't have to actually watch the screen to enjoy it.

Episode 4 of The Killing finally shows us what this show is all about.

I like it, its solid.

Its not great, yet. but I like the sum enough and what seems to be the main story arc is actually pretty interesting now Episode 4.

The writing though is a little too safe, it doesn't give the actors a lot of room. But, they are able to do enough that by episode 4 I like them. The main girl (Detective Linden) is very different. She's pretty cold most of the time. I don't mean evil, I mean kind of dead. She gives the impression that she's inside her head a lot. But with her family, she comes out a bit. Detective Holder is great. He doesn't get quite enough lines, but every time he's on screen I enjoy it.

I'd like to see a just a little bit more of the police side of things. I barely feel like they are police detectives. Their boss may as well not even exist and so far the police department building has basically just been a place to hold suspects. It just doesn't all fit together. Particularly after the first episode, where we see a comradery moment between Detective Linden and the department, as if they have this long running working history. But there has been no sign of that since.

ehh I can't really come to like the lady detective. I like the dude detective thoooo.

I dunno how much I care about the political shit, like even if it ties back in an interesting way it's still a huge part of the show that I just don't care about. Not that they could take it out or anything, I mean this is a remake showwww. Also, there's a lot of emotiony parenty grievey stuff that makes me pretty uncomfortable and not in a way I'll come to appreciate. Just in a I-don't-want-to-watch-this-stuff way. Finally, the character I had picked as my suspect they ended up casting suspicion on at the end of the episode. So. It's definitely not him. My new bet is girl detective's boss. Sort of a deadly premonition thing, he loves her and that's why he keeps trying to drag her into this case... that's why he killed that girl. He knew she would be emotionally connected and he could make her stay. I would be satisfied if that were the reveal. If it's not true of this one, maybe it's true of forbrydelsen :)

At this point, I would hate it if that turned out to be it. As of right now, the police department barely exists to the viewer. I'm sorry but its shitty writing to hang your twists on blatant and near complete omission. Tonight's cliffhanger was how you make a twist. Ignoring of course the trope of look to the guy that you least expect, I had no reason to consider him and I in fact, did not. Because I allow myself to get absorbed in the flow of the show and don't usually disconnect from what I'm viewing to think ahead of it too much.

Hey, you guys should watch Drew Carey's Improv-a-Ganza on GSN. It's the cast of Whose Line is it Anyway, minus Wayne, but plus me. I'm only in four episodes for the first run -- one a week -- because of the difficulty scheduling between SNL and this show. But I'll hopefully be in more episodes next season, which films next summer.

Heather, I can't load that site..is it because I'm in the UK? Boo-urns!

People watching the Killing - I read that with the original they hadn't finished writing the story when they began filming, so even the actors didn't know who the killer was up till the end. Oh the suspense. But feel free to post spoilers when its done. I'd be interested to hear who the killer is in the remake.

I like the Killing a better when it's just hanging out with its cast and not trying to be an overplotted murder mystery. Also, I'm thankful we seem to be done with the high school for now- those kids all felt like uncanny valley robot versions of high schoolers.

Game of Thrones feels like a pretty faithful adaptation of the books, which is fine. I'm all for that nasty brutish version of fantasy entering the public consciousness.
