Here, some people discuss achewood. I'm not sure who most of these people are, besides scott kurtz. i know as a community, most of us are into achewood, but this is a good point to bring up. in the podcast, they liken it to seinfeld, but only in the sense it "isn't about anything."

I just got to the point to where they talk about Cartilagehead arc. A man said, "The only people who would like that are art students."

Personally, this podcast. Is, well:

JAMES: and tell them I want to cut them open and piss into them all (the podcast guys).

Anyways, here is the link to the other PODCASTERS: http://www.digitalstrips.com/2007/03/livecast-ep02-achewood.html

I can't say much for the other strips.

Anyways, I'm still going at the podcast, so, I'll have more to add to the discussion later.

Isn't this true of most (good) webcomics?

Yeah, I'd say so. I mean, the only story driven webcomic I've followed is Wigu. That was a while ago. I suppose the "on the go because there is no solid, long plotline" quality of achewood is what makes it easy to read (for some). I can't find myself deeply engaged in most story based comics. I mean, hell, I'll still visit penny arcade. Sometimes something good will come out of it, and I'm more than willing to stick around for that.

It's just, I'm not going to click the previous strip button or go through the archives to get a better grip on things. I tried that with Diesel Sweeties a few weeks ago (why did I ever read that in the first place). Something about Pete being a teacher and hitting on younger girls. I don't know.

So. I like achewood for Onstad's ability to keep his jokes and stories brief.

And outrage at the podcast etc :(

Chris Ware is a comic artist who has a different way of going about narratives. I think they're just comparing Onstad to Ware because of the "hipster uppity-ness" and what have you. Also, maybe for slight similarities in their layout, but I'm not so sure. Ware gets much more complex than simple panels.
