The latest function of Google Maps. I don't know how recent it is but I've just found out about it and I'm freaking blown away. It's only available for a few cities right now but it's still awesome. A complete 360 degree view at street level, that you can rotate and look around. Man, this is wild stuff! Just wait till they add more though...
edit-I just figured out that you can zoom in and out! _________________

You can not only zoom in and out; you can look in my window. To which the blinds are, oddly, drawn up. It is, however, dark inside.
Suggest change of thread title to "realMYST 2007".
EDIT: EEEEEK! |

I kinda expect a lot of brilliant easter eggs out of this somewhat like that black void there. _________________

This is both creepy and neat. I mean, there really is no reason at all to have this.
I can't wait for the people who find the nudie photos on this. _________________

It could be useful for finding landmarks in unfamiliar areas. _________________ The people are like wool to me |

Note that some are being removed already. From that boingboing thread, the shot of the guy being arrested has already been eliminated. _________________

Oh, it will be eminently useful. It will give all those people who "know it when I see it" a way to share their navigational insights ahead of time, for a change.
Still, it makes one wonder what's going to happen when Google achieves its stated goal of "organizing the world's information." How much of what we do is in essence organization - and what are we going to do when Google's done it for us? _________________ Let's Play, starring me. |

Totally. It's one thing to look up an address; it's another to pull up a panorama of that intersection, so you'll know precisely what you're looking for ahead of time. This is almost like astral projection. Techno-scouting. |
