I've had a website since 2001, and started running it as a joint operation with my cousin in 2003. Eventually he and other contributors left, I stopped writing actual articles or content and the front page devolved into a personal blog.
I've never gotten positive responses for it from anyone, and not even my wife reads it. But this one kid sent me a hate-mail once three years back threatening to make me an awful link of the day. And according to my web stats, sometimes people misspell the same words in Google that I misspell in my posts and they find my site. I hope they connect with me, like "Wow, me and that guy both misspelled the same thing, I should check back here from now on for more exciting updates" but that doesn't seem to happen.
But blogs are nice to go back to. Everyone should write, really. And extra points to anyone who can stick to a personal website, though I must admit its less of a hassle to update something if it uses Web 2.0. |
