Some lass made a Mario ROM hack as a work of "art." http://www.year01.com/mario/ I found it to be shallow and silly.
Indie game news site, Ludonauts, wrote a story about the ROM hack. http://www.ludonauts.com/2004/04/02/just-go-for-a-walk-non-competitive-gaming/ The author wrote a quote that, to me, is more artistic than the ROM hack itself.
So I recreated the scene, faced Mario in the "wrong" direction, used black SMB1 sprites, and plopped in that quote.
