Newsflash! If your mobile cell-phone service is marketed to the lowest common denominator of american culture, you will go bankrupt when nobody pays their bills.

I could not help but laugh.

So they tried to attract the urban youth market, and found out no one wanted to pay the bills. I'm not at all surprised. When I was in college people would still look at me cross eyed whenever I went online to pay my Sprint bill. Kids get cell phones from a pretty young age now, and I think a lot of them find responsibly paying for your own bill to be a foreign concept.

Geez, americans still keep pushing service contracts? I thought that was a dying breed - prepaid phone cards (a Portuguese invention, no matter what Wikipedia says) is what everybody uses to mug the youth out of their money, nowdays.

EDIT: Current ratio of penetration : 2,5 cellphones per person in Portugal.

EDIT: Oh. Terrorists. Fine, then.

Not black people persey, just anyone who would purchase a "My Humps" ringtone...

On second thought, yeah, a lot of that figure does include black people

Slipstream's the one who brought it up. I'm not going to shy away from the issue with "NO NOT BLACK PEOPLE. THIS ISN'T A RACE THING." Rather, admiting that yes, I figure some black people likely are included in the figure seemed like the mature thing to do.

Also, I'm fat. So there's that.

Who are you again?

My buddy and I have been trying to figure out what to get my mom, because she'll never buy a cell phone on her own, but really needs one just in case she breaks down or something and I have to go get her.

We actually looked at Amp'd 2 days ago and were like, I dunno.. something seems wrong with that. Bad feeling.

I do need to get her something cheap, though, maybe Virgin. She'd probably not use anymore than what's on their lowest plan anyway.

I had virgin mobile when I was a teen, and it was a decent service. As long as she doesn't text message, the minutes should last her a while.

I'm still trying to teach her how to copy and paste things on the computer, so her figuring out text messaging will probably be a while. So I think we're safe.
