Sonny Chiba at his best perhaps? This is an excellent marshal arts movie, with better than decent acting.


Bad show: Basilisk

An absolutely terrible anime. Painful and hard to watch. I'd rather not describe it.

I tried to watch Basilisk last night, actually. It was on late on IFC.

I watched Karate Bullfighter a little too drunk and talked about it in the movie thread.

Then I watched it not drunk at all.

Man the first time I didn't even notice that Chiba raped his love interest.

I love how sort of arbitrary both Karate <animal> Fighter movies are, with their "oh crap message!" moments. Also the bull jet of horn blood, and the way he always has to fight a black guy (shades of Street Fighter and the guy who is there entirely to be a rapist and have his junk torn off by Chiba).

One time I was flipping past IFC while Basilisk was on, and this guy had a babe pinned down and was groping her and describing how he was going to rape her and use his awesome ninja powers to seal her awesome ninja rape defense power so he could make her his wife and rape her all day every day because that's what ninjas do.

Yeah this girl "sealed her eyes" (she was blind or something), and this other guy had sealed eyes as well and was all surprised that she had sealed her eyes.

Then later this guy died, and his neck opened up and turned into a second mouth, and then the girl unsealed her eyes and the bad guys were all surprised about that.

It sounds awesome and stupid, but really it's just stupid and dumb and hard to watch.
