I've only ever met in person with two of my online friends. but these were people that I really enjoyed messaging and chatting with, people that I communicated with one-on-one quite often (by way of the internet). I could also tell that they also enjoyed chatting with me much the same. it was to the point that meeting was pretty natural and a very smooth situation--we were good friends anyways before hand.

I've got a couple of online friends right now that i've never met that I would really like to meet/visit someday.

I've never signed up to a dating site though. this is just from my experiences with myspace, msn public profile, and skype public profile.
