I met my partner online. Of course, I wasn't looking for a relationship. So, uh. Not sure how that balances off.

It was a mutual interest in Edward Gorey.

Same experience on two counts (met online and wasn't looking for a relationship), except I introduced my girlfriend to E. Gorey via scans.

That was kind of a weird "date," actually: sending scans of one of the more whimsical Gorey books panel-by-panel via MSN with a scanner that takes 5 minutes to scan each image. Plenty of time to digest the art and gaptooth narrative before moving on. Fun!

To be honest, here, my fiance and I didn't meet over a dating site. Just over a forum where we had common interests.

I had had one relationship before that began online due to mutual interest in theology. It didn't work out due to distance, which is why my fiance moved to my city (from TX to SC is one hell of a drive via UHaul) about three years ago after we'd been dating long-distance for about six months.

So good things do work out! Obviously I wouldn't promise the same experience for others, but, here's testimony to a good experience with the whole mess.

How far away from right here, right now is Heaven, and eternity?

Six hours and nineteen minutes by Greyhound, but the Greyhound will break down at a Flying J right when the light pollution gets visible. This gives Heaven and eternity & CO a chance to skitter just a little ways further.

(Earth is on the back of a giant tortoise. Heaven is on the back of a small but VERY durable crab.)

That's closer than Pittsburgh to Indianapolis, then!

Why did I take the fuckin' bus to Pittsburgh, that one time, then?

What a gyp.

Pittsburgh is the great Satan, and its horizon incandescence has brought many a pilgrim to its carnival of shame and Steelers (which, depending on the season, are also shame).
