My notes tell me that Sigma Notation is something I must memorize perfectly, and I will also never need to actually use it. Only read it.
I fucking hate public education sometimes. |
Sigma notation shouldn't be too hard to learn. It's just a compact way of writing a large, sometimes indefinitely large sum. It gets a little harder when they start teaching you things like how to properly evaluate indefinitely large sums.
And if you ever need to take Calculus you'll probably need an understanding of the sigma notation. |
More like if you ever take Calculus or Statistics you will DEFINITELY need an understanding of sigma notation. It's not that hard, just think of it as a different language. They came up with a way to say something using different symbols that would take a lot more to say using English or basic arithmetic. |
