Guys I am also totally right there with you on this. I actually make it a kind of tradition to watch Haibane Renmei all the way through every year on my winter break.
All the stuff mentioned is great stuff though I guess I've just never thought about it being very "girly" or whatever. I mean sure Honey & Clover is based off a shoujo I think but that kind of material really is perfect for exercising all the 'drama' emotions no matter where you're coming from.

Yeah the fight with Bunji is my favorite singular scene in the whole show. I loved that they tried really hard not to fuck it up by making him all grotesque or carnival-like.
Yeah after Brandon's revenge is more or less complete the show gets pretty great again in the finale.
