I've never heard of the guy (I watched a little wrestling back in college about 8 years ago when Stone Cold was in his prime) but the whole thing is weird.
I imagine he strangled them or snapped their necks if he didn't shoot or stab them.

I wonder if he did any weird stuff with his deceased wife.

he could have just been giving his wife a hug and didn't know his own strength and accidentally crushed her like a grape.

then, like you said, riddled with guilt kills the kid a day later then pumps a bunch of iron and does his last rep and then hangs himself.

I think a guy stuffing a revolver in his wife's/kid's/mother's mouth and looking them in the eye and pulling the trigger is more evil than a guy 20,000 feet in the air wearing a flight suit flipping a switch thinking he's dropping bombs on an anthrax factory.
maybe his commanders are evil because they knew the intended target was close to civilians but as a whole I don't think our military makes a habit out of wasting billions of dollars of weaponry just to kill innocent, albiet worthless civilians.
